Hey,

so I have a x-box360, bought about 1,5 year ago.
I'm not a devoted gamer on the thing so I never had a HardDisk, until recently atleast.

I got a fan and HD, but them both to use and after 1 day I tried to turn my box360 on and the fucking thing got the so called "Ring of Death" with 3 of the 4 pieces flickering in red.

What should I do?
I can't decide whether to look for a repair-something or send it back to where I got it from.
Thing is that I've lost receipt too.

thanks in advance.

I got the three red lights a few days back.

I called the support line - 0800 587 1102.

Even though my warranty had expired, you get an extension for this specific problem. UPS are coming to pick up my X-Box as soon as I call them. And it'll (apparently) take 2-3 weeks to fix, and ship back to you (I'm from England).

Yeah, awhile ago, Microsoft extended the warranty three years because a shit load of Xbox's get this problem.

Just call the number posted above and they send you a box to ship your console in. Don't put anything except the console in (controlers, hard drive, cords, etc.) and ship it back to them. There is a prepaid shipping label so you don't have to pay for shipping. Once they receive it, I am pretty sure they send you a refurbished one of higher quality.

It usually takes from about 2 weeks to over a month. I've seen people wait 2 months and others wait 2 weeks to get their Xbox. Microsoft's customer service is absolutely horrible.

When I Red-Ringed, I got my box to ship it in 4 days after I put the order in, sent it back out, and my 360 was back within 7 days. Thats roughly 15 days without an Xbox, not bad seeing as how 5 of them were due to me not being able to figure out what was wrong and not asking for a box.

I actually have a box in the mail at the time with my repaired 360 in it. The best way to fix it is to simply have it repaired by Microsoft. However, I've grown tired of the problems with Xbox and as soon as I get it back I am reselling it.
