Whenever I start up MSN is crashes. It usually happens like 10 seconds into my first conversation or so, it's kind of random. It gives the usual crash message of "MSN must shut down" "Send error report" blah blah blah. Anyone know what's wrong? I'm on Windows XP, by the way.

I would just reinstall it. That usually fixes problems like that.

I've already reinstalled it three times.

Did you try even deleting the registry keys?
What version of MSN are you using?

Same thing happens to me, except its usually after about 1-2 hours or so.
I use the Beta version that you can't get from the site, it always does that a second after I sign on and it has to reconnect.

Can you give a link to the download please?

When I try to download the newest MSN it says that I must have XP Service Pack 2. So I tried to download that and it had an error while extracting :ahe:
Is there any way to get MSN without SP2?

I'm not sure Spiffy, but you could always downgrade to an older version of MSN if this problem keeps happening, it may not have all the snazzy things the newest version does, but it gets the job done.

I tried that, and when I tried to log in on the older version it said "A newer version is available. You must install the newer version to continue. Would you like to do this now?", and if I press no it doesn't log in.

You may just try downloading a different instant messaging program. I use Trillian and Pidgin for my IM programs depending on whether I am on Linux or Windows. They are both multi-platform/service programs, but they work just as well.

I also use Trillian, but it doesn't support webcam or audio, and I kind of need those.

Then you may want to look into aMSN. It is a MSN clone program for linux that can be installed in windows as well. It supports video and audio.

Hmm... I installed that and it my webcam worked the first time, but now every time I send it it said that they rejected it, even though they didn't :ahe:.
