I've been playing bass and singing bg in a band called Rocker Lips for a year now. We're based out of Kansas City, Missouri and currently tour the surrounding Midwestern states. We just released our first EP and have merchandise up for sale. Give us a listen and let me know what you think, if you like it add us!

Admittedly, I wasn't expecting much, but I like your sound. Rock and Roll Livin' is a sweet tune, decent vocals matched with some good riffs.

I like it. The vocals actually fits the rest of the sound unlike most other stuff I've heard like this. Good stuff I rekon.

I love the style, but the vocals need improvement in my opinion.

Very good, quite like the riffs and the vocals. I'll add ya's later when I can be bothered signing into myspace.
You guys melt faces. Freaking awesome.

Something seems a bit off with the energy... it's hard to say what though. I definitely like the style. Reminds me of Kings of Leon.

Wow, you guys have some pretty cool artwork in there, the person that made it must be very awesome.
Also, my shirt and cd hasn't arrived yet :fmita:

Your stuff really sounds like it'd go good with a bottle of Rum. I'm not sure why.
And what exactly is a mammoth bass.
And what exactly is a mammoth bass.
Just listen to "Rock and Roll Livin's" bass line..
Android, Rocker Lips is a pretty awesome hard-rock band ya' got there; one thing though is that the vocals in the four songs really don't have much differing. And also the drum part in "Had Enough" sounds kinda weak.
But in all, it sounds pretty cool.

That's probably the most difficult thing to capture on a recording. It could be that we didn't track the whole thing live (where all instruments play at once and the vocals are dubbed in later).

Thanks a lot to Assassin who designed all the little logo pictures that pop up when you select a song from our playlist. He's also been an immense help in designing posters and other art related stuff.

I use a bass distortion pedal called a Wooly Mammoth which makes my bass sound huge, warm and fuzzy. Plus I thought it sounded like a cool name.

I love the shuffle beat ala Radar Love in that song during the verses.
As far as vocals go, Matt has a distinct style and I wouldn't really want him to stray too far from that. There is room for improvement sure, but I wouldn't want him to sound completely different on every track. Our motto in this band is less is more and we aim to keep it simple. So we find something that works and we stick to it. It has been working really well for us because peopel "get it" without it having to be explained to them, or without artisitic justification.
Sometimes people just want to rock out to fun, simple songs, with audible and intelligible lyrics without all the frills bells and whistles and attempts to be artsy fartsy.
Thanks for the comments guys, I appreciate your honesty.

It's really simple and easy to like. Just a really good tight sound.
The repetitive drum line in Rock and Roll Livin' gets boring and it's too long before it changes. But that's the only song this really is an issue in. When it's mostly you and the drums in that song, your part is a little bland and could be spiced up a little by playing those 5 quarter notes different rhythmically. If that makes any sense.
I mean I like the simplicity but don't let it be too bland.
That's all the bad, there's way too much good for one post.

Update:
We finally released our CD in early August and things have been going really well. At the release party alone we sold 70 CDs in one night! If anyone would like a CD you can PM me about getting one.
We have also been doing some radio spots on a few local and surrounding area radio stations. Currently we are being featured on the BIG SHOW on FatCat Radio Wednesday September 3rd. It's an internet radio station that supports local music and it costs nothing to listen to. Check it out at www.fatcatradio.com The show airs at 8:00pm CST.
We will also be featured on the Mick Shane Rock Show this Friday. www.mickshanerockshow.com
If anyone can record one or both of these shows I would greatly appreciate it.
Expand your traveling horizons. Come to The East.
Also, if you guys ever need something from the internet, ask in this thread, ya know? Someone will probably want to help.

Thanks a lot. People always ask us to define our sound and we say, "Rock and Roll" and people go, "Yeah but what else?" That's all it is though, Rock and Roll plain and simple.

We'd like to. We've done Minneapolis, Omaha, Council Bluffs Ia, and are working on Des Moines. If we could get a date with a good local band we would be all for it! Any recommendations on bands or venues?

Id love to give some recommendations, but I pretty much have zero knowledge of these things. I havent lost my concert virginity yet, mostly because Chicago is far enough away from where I live to be a hassle to get to. If you did manage to get up around that area though, I would definitely try to make it out to see you guys play.

We will be in St. Louis this Saturday night at the Creepy Crawl. If you live near there come on out and lets meet.
Also, we added a new animation to the website at www.rockerlips.com
Feedback is welcome and appreciated.

I think the links are dead, which sucks cause I wanted to listen to you guys again.
Oh yeah. This is Andy's band. I added them on MySpace a while back, and I saw them on there a few days ago and was like, "Who the fuck is that?"

The link to our myspace works. We are working on getting up some brand new (and higher quality) videos of us playing live. We've also been pretty busy hitting the midwest and south. New album is in the vocals stage right now and should be done within the next few months. If you thought our last album was good wait until you hear this one.

Maybe my computer hates me, but when I click the link, it shows me your kickass icon, which I click, then it gives me a "this page could not be displayed" type message.
Really looking forward to hearing your new stuff. Maybe this time I'll even get off my ass and order a CD.

I was going to school in Kansas City a few years ago. Why did you not find me. Bastard.
Edit: Less stocky beats would be a HUGE plus.

It's rock and roll man, the last thing we are trying to be are artsy fucks. The idea is simple catchy music, that you can dance to. New album is gonna be great though, more expanse on our sound, better studio, better engineer, better songs.
You should go in avant garde direction,

Sadly the band rejected my recent masterpiece which consisted of me farting into a tuba while playing the kazoo.
