So in my computer I have a total of 2.5 GBs of RAM, the thing is 2 of the gigs (2 sticks of side by side 1gig) are one brand and the .5 (2 sticks of side by side 256 mb) is of another brand. Once I put in the new 2 GBs of RAM, my computer would crash occasionally. I've had the feeling that this is the issue, because I don't have any viruses on my computer.
The only other thing I can think of is that I need more fans.

Anyone have an idea what the issue is?

Take out the 2 256mb sticks that should resolve the issue. Ram doesn't like to be mismatched. Sometimes it works other times it crashes your shit.

You can use two different brands as long as they are the same speed, size, and type. If you mismatch RAM sizes like you are doing right now it can cause crashes.
