View Full Version : (Resolved) Transfering music from CD to computer.
Ive noticed that whenever I put a CD into my computer to transfer the songs it always puts them on my computer at a bit rate of 128kbps I was wondering it theres any way to have them be at a higher bit rate such as 198 or 252kbps?
Is this possible or does it solely depend on the CD?

What program are you using? I believe 192kbps is the highest on Windows Media Player. You can check it out yourself by doing this.
Tools > Options > Click the "Copy Music" tab and see how far the slider will go. That's the only program I rip with, so sorry if you use something different.
EDIT
Actually if you use the drop down box that says "Formats" you can change it to lossless and get up to 900kbps.
Ok I seem to have found it im using Itunes by the way. It was in Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Importing. Thanks spastic.
Yeah, just be wary of your file sizes for mobile devices, such as phones or mp3/mp4 players. The higher the kbps, the larger the file size. I keep all my music at either 128 kbps or 192 kbps, and it sounds like it's practically CD-quality.
