Alright so I am puzzled by this. My MSN keeps disconnecting and reconnecting ever 5-10 minutes. I have tried uninstalling it, removing the registry, deleting the appdata. I cannot think of anything else to do. I am using the lastest version of Windows Live Messenger, but not the beta. If anyone else has had this problem and knows how to fix it, it would be greatly appreciated.

Might be something with your internet, not MSN. I know that if your connection cuts out temporarily, MSN will disconnect and attempt to reconnect again. I know next to nothing about modems and whatnot, but make sure your router or whatever isn't overheating. My last modem fried after a couple years of intense usage, starting with connection "hiccups" like you're describing.

My internet is doing fine, when I get disconnected from MSN vent is still working, and I am still able to browse the internet. I haven't noticed any slowdowns with my internet at all.

I have had this problem as well and I use Trillian for IM client. I get disconnected occasionally (certainly not every 5-10 min) and have no idea why. My only assumption is that there is something wrong with the server you are connecting to for MSN.

I am thinking the same thing Beefy, my disconnects are becoming more infrequent. I updated my firmware, restored factory defaults for my router, and enabled upnp, nothing worked. I then tried using Trillian and aMSN, and was getting disconnected from them too. So I guess I'll just have to tough it out and hope this goes away. If anyone does know a fix feel free to post, though.

A had a sort of similar problem with MSN a while back. I just update the driver for the network card and it seemed to fix the probem.

It tends to happen, it IS MSN.

It is happening just now with me and a bunch of people i know, i barely have anyone online just now where usually a good 10-15+ are on at this time.

MSN status checker isn't of any use either, they say things are all working fine, but that is never true, i bet it is someone manually updating that page, rather than an automatic function whenever the servers screw up.

Not having the problem anymore, must have just been my connection to MSN was screwy.
