Well, I stumbled upon an article that announced that Interplay, the people who own the character Earthworm Jim, are planning on making a feature-length film.
...they're back at work with TenNapel to develop a new video game, animated series, and feature film.

Do you think this will turn out good? With all the Marvel movies coming up in the next few years, they will probably have a big effect on the turnout.
If you feel this is more 'Video Game' related, move it as you please.
Holy shit. Earthworm Jim was the best cartoon I watched as a kid! I'll be gutted if they make it live-action or all CGI n shit.

I used to love this guy! Now if they only make a Freakazoid movie.
I just hope it's a blockbuster so that Interplay gets some cash and starts making good games again.
Buy the fallout franchise back from Bethesda too, perhaps?
Oh well, let's just hope the movie is good because I sure as hell enjoyed the genesis games.

Well, this is gonna be a definite CGI, but I see no reason to make a movie on this. Just goes to show Hollywood has no good ideas anymore.

And this just goes to show that people posting on forums have no idea what they're talking about on at least this subject.
Interplay has been defunct long enough and trying (with much failure) to restart that I'm really doubtful about this going through. And it'll probably suck. I wouldn't be surprised if they came up with the idea because of Marvel's success in the area, but they're clearly missing quite a bit in that setup.

What the fuck? I'm sorry, but the comparisons to Marvel films here just... Aren't working. You DO realize that Earthworm Jim has the name he has because he's a worm, right? I love the franchise, but you can't honestly think people would think, "Oh, I saw Hugh Jackman sprouting knives from his fist, so I may as well see a movie about an earthworm in a big suit."
Besides, this is probably going to fail just like so many other franchise revivals.

He's not just a worm, he's a SUPERworm
He is just a worm. It's the suit that's super, dummy.
Ahh, I love Earthworm Jim. Agreeing with Ox though, has to be like the old cartoon. That pixar stuff annoys me.
I recently got back into the game. It's still amazing.

I'm pretty sure the suit made him a LITTLE super. He didn't have eyes before the suit fell on him, and he can also now support the suit's weight all by himself.
And Batman's a superhero and he doesn't have super powers either.

EARTHWORM JIM,
THE SOIL HE DID CRAWL
EARTHWORM JIM,
A SUPER SUIT DID FALL.
JIM WAS JUST A DIRT EATING,
CHEWING LENGTH OF WORM, FLASH
BUT ALL THAT CAME TO A CRASH
AND GAVE HIM LOTS OF POWER
EARTHWORM JIM,
HE'S SUCH A GROOVY GUY
EARTHWORM JIM,
HE ROCKET'S THROUGH THE SKY
CRUISING THROUGH THE UNIVERSE
HAVING LOT'S OF FUN,
HERE COMES EARTHWORM JIM YOU KNOW
THAT HE'S THE MIGHTY ONE
--- LOOK OUT ---
LA LA LA LA, LA LA LA LA, LA LA LA....
DESPITE HIS GREAT BIG MUSCLES
AND HIS REALLY BIG RAY GUN,
JIM IS STILL AN EARTHWORM
BUT THEN HE'S THE ONLY ONE,
WITH A SUPER SUIT TO MAKE HIM REALLY SUPER STRONG, JIM CAN BE A WINNER IF WE ONLY SING ALONG...
(ALRIGHT)
EARTHWORM JIM,
WE THINK HE'S MIGHTY FINE
EARTHWORM JIM,
A HERO FOR ALL TIME
EARTHWORM,
EARTHWORM,
EARTHWORM,
EARTHWORM, JIM
HOORAY FOR JIMMMMMMMM
And Batman isn't a superhero, he's a vigilante with cash. I fucking hate Batman,

I sure as hell wouldn't mind a new Earthworm Jim game, but I could do without the movie.

Learn to read. No one said they're the same thing. It was said that adaptations between mediums based on characters like that could be a trend that lead to the idea of this being a good choice. Not hard to get.

Okay, I have three good reasons why this film will be horrible, hands down.
1. He's a worm - Okay, we have here a earthworm, who happens to be named Jim.....okay? So? Big deal, he wears a mechanical man suit, and he shoots at crap with a little plastic gun. Unless you're five you wont be amused by this.
2. Video game movies are NEVER good. - Perfect example, Tomb Raider. Everyone saw that movie, because one of the hottest asian adopting MILF's star in it. Otherwise, movie sucked, plot sucked, director sucked. Hands down.
3. What would the movie be about? - Earthworm Jim, is a fun game I'll give you that, but the plot is way too stupid, so you save princess what's her face. Big woop, every 1990's game was like that.
In conclusion, besides the fact that Marvel is ruling the action-hero movie base right now, if they ARE going to make this movie, I wouldn't watch it, for the simple fact that it would be as painful as sticking your cock in a cheese grinder.
Everything in that post is completely wrong, save for the reasoning behind people watching Tomb Raider.
An Earthworm Jim movie would blow hard unless it was just one long animated movie.
I could dig another game though. The games rock. Been awhile since I've played on though. I mostly remember arbitrarily launching cows into the air.
And Batman isn't a superhero, he's a vigilante with cash. I fucking hate Batman,
Fuck you, you stupid pussycock. Batman is a fucking bad ass that, despite not having any superpowers, can kick any other superhero's ass. And has. Several times.

I would watch this just because of the cartoon and the game. I would pay for my whole neighborhood to see it if J-Lo played "Queen Slug for a Butt"

I understand what was said, and disagreed that Earthworm Jim is a comparable character to those presented in the Marvel movies. The idea that because mildly ridiculous characters are selling means completely ridiculous ones will do the same is wrong.
Learn not to try so hard at being an edgy know-it-all dumb fuck.
A new Earthworm Jim game, were it done right, would kick serious amounts of ass. Those games were so much fun, and the cartoon was entertaining. I'd hope to see a new game at least.

Somehow, I think Earthworm Jim the movie, will be the worst movie ever. The game was fun, but it'll just end up being some poorly animated kids movie if we're lucky, god help us if they try to make actors do it.
