My band "Year of the Moth" is a bit over a year old and we have one CD out, and a decent reputation in Arizona.
We have a few songs up on the dreaded yet necessary my space.

We really have no classification. We have been compared to everything from The Doors and Pink Floyd to Tool and Queens of the Stone Age...
Our live show is about improvisation and rote style.... some places are set others flow.
We have some videos up as well.
Critique please.

So, when I first started listening to Circus Monkey, I thought "I'm not really to fond of the vocals..." but by the time I got to Fault, I thought they really work well. I like your songs. Have you ever heard of the band Gorillaz? Thats what I think Fault kinda sounded like. But I really liked it. My biggest problem was at some points, you really couldn't understand what the vocalist was saying.
Lemme guess, you play....the organ? ;P

hee hee... actually I did play the organ in Circus Monkey and the Piano in Fault lol.... I will let you guess at what else.
Kevin is a very understated vocalist. He is a musician first (Guitar) and does tend to blend. He has nice pipes, and is part of our weird sound.
Thanks for the props!

This is actually pretty awesome, I am totally digging the experimental side of the music.
Yeah, and Fault definitely sounds like Gorillaz.
Maybe I'll even buy a CD if I can...

Thanks! This is the first time we have been compared to the Gorrilaz, but I like them so that is cool. We are working on the next CD which will have even more of the experimental stuff on it. This is, by far, the most unique band I have been a part of.
I love the vocalist's singing style, especially on Circus Monkey. There's something really powerful about it, and it kinda reminds me of Maynard James Keenan's from A Perfect Circle and Tool.

Thanks! And yes, I am the bassist. My hair is my best feature after my bass playing. Thus I let it protect the fans from me.

Ok, I made another video. This one is for "In Memory".
In Memory is about the Battler of the Somme in WWI. I used more effects on this one and actual footage from the UK's royal war archives.

Here are some sneak peaks at 2 new songs from our next CD. This is from our 10/04/2008 show, just live footage and sound. Our buddy who rides motocross was the camera guy and put these together for us.
Manifesto:

Petrol:

Great stuff man. Good music, and you're trying something different. Am I wrong or is there a major Alice In Chains influence?
It sounds pretty generic for the genre but it's pretty good, especially if you're just some playing in the garage type band. I really like Manifesto.

I disagree. I think the only thing that makes it sound a bit generic would be the vocals and coal structure. He sounds like he's singing the same way for each song.

Manifesto has no vocals, and was written last week.
Petrol is a bit older, by a month or so. His vocals were cut back on the mix in my opinion. He was clearer through the monitors on stage. He also cut out some of the extended vocal singing (aaaaaaaah's) because the sound guy thought the smoke machine should fill the entire club from before sound check then lit 8 incense sticks behind the mains on both sides of the stage. Everyone was coughing in the green room and off stage.
We are not really influence by AIC. I like them, but have not modeled my playing after them. I can not speak too much for the others, but I know Junior (Drums) is heavy into Clutch, and that genre. Kevin is into everything from Queens of the Stone age to Grateful Dead. Tim is kinda in that vein as well. My influences range all over...
This band is a project that started out to write and complete one good CD. We have gotten enough interest and sold enough music that we have decided to take it further. So, we write what we feel like writing and throw it out there.
Not sure how to describe it. We all bring in ideas and put them together as they seem to fit. Manifesto is the bastard child of that process, written about a friend of mine. You may have seen it on the news. When the superbowl was here, Kurt was angry and sent threatening letters to media outlets. He was gonna go out in a blaze of gory glory with an AR-15 taking as many of the innocent he could. It was an 8 page, disjointed "Manifesto".
He was a douche, but his bar was cool before the city shut it down. Now he is in prison.
So, yeah, our shit is random hee hee hee.

I guess I should mention I am in Phoenix, AZ so the Superbowl statement is a bit more relevant.

this is the article about it. He was cool to work with but he kinda snapped.
