So, here is the new Ben Stiller movie. First time I saw the trailer, I laughed my ass off.
The Cast: Jack Black, Ben Stiller, Robert Downey Jr. (as a black man) and Steve Coogan.
I think it is gonna be awesome.
And there is also 'Rain of Madness', a fake documentary about how the movie was made. Also real funny.
Here are the trailers and IMDB pages:
Tropic Thunder: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0942385/
http://www.apple.com/trailers/paramount/tropicthunder/
Rain of Madness: No IMDB page
http://www.apple.com/trailers/dreamworks/rainofmadness/
So what do you think about it?
I am very much looking forward to this. Mainly because of Robert Downey Jr. as a black man. By the way, it's not much of a spoiler if it's on the poster.

Robert Downey Jr. looks very real as a black man, by the way. This movie looks amazing, that's all I can say.

This:
Robert Downey Jr. as a black man.
Is why I will be seeing this movie.

It's relatively difficult to notice that it's actually Robert Downey Jr. in blackface. He would blend in well if he were in Harlem.
You all have already said it. Downey Jr. as a black man is a no brainer, a must see.
Well technically Downey Jr. is playing a white guy playing a black guy.
Still awesome.

I heard Ben Stiller came up with this movie while filming Empire of the Sun. I cannot wait for the movie. I was cracking up when I saw the trailer during Drillbit Taylor.

TT plot kinda reminded me of the man who knew too little. It's basically a film where Bill murray thinks he is doing a play that involves real life. (you need to see it to understand). And he thinks he is a secret agent and thinks everyone is part of the play. Similar plots is pretty funny.
Apart from that I am looking forward to this especially Rob Jr playing a black guy.

Stiller's shit is going to be put straight by Black and Downey Jr.
Mark my words, Downey Jr. is getting an oscar for this, he deserves it. And that is by just watching the trailer!

It'll be interesting to see Jack Black, Robert Downey Jr. and Ben Stiller working together. I'm looking forward to it!
50!
This for me was like The Watchmen trailer. When I first saw it I went "this looks dumb" but the more and more I saw the trailer and other stuff about the movie, the more excited I became for it. Now this just looks hilarious, and espeically after hearing the stuff about Downey Jr. in this movie, along with Danny McBride being in it (even for just a few minutes) I can't wait. Plus this is getting amazing critical praise.

Even though he's writing and directing? I like the man and I'll be seeing this.

As a writer/director, Stiller's record is pretty clean. As an actor, he's not too funny or interesting.

So it came out today and was way better then I was expecting. I thought it was going to be total shit, but I haven't laughed that hard at a movie since the first time I saw Knocked Up.
Tom Cruise is actually awesome in a movie for the first time in years.

I was watching the news yesterday and people are protesting this movie because of Robert Downey Jr. being black and the use of the word retard in the movie. I think I'll see it just to piss off the retards who think a white man being black is racist.

He has a cameo.
He has a cameo.
This is one thing I thought was dumb about the movie itself (before it came out) people were crying over the fact that saying 'tom has a cameo!!' was a spoiler. Get over it. But just to confirm, I heard he was like a fat mogul lord or something like that. Is it true?

That's very true. Cruise's roll was awesome.
I saw it tonight. It was a delightful clusterfuck. It's a headache to watch, and Stiller directed poorly, but it is a very funny movie and well worth the money. Robert Downey Jr., Matthew McConaughey (whom I usually hate), and Tom Cruise really make this movie delightful.

I thought that the director Cockburn's li'l rant about how they're soldiers and he's jesus with the connection to god, getting them all fired up, then treds on a mine and explodes was the funniest thing I had seen in months.
And Tom Cruise, whom I find irritating and insane, always seems to be entertaining and awesome on film. Overall I thought the movie was done pretty well. Actors playing Actors always allows for fun li'l exaggerations, maybe even of themselves.
The homages to other films was awesome as well, and there's some damn fine explosions.

I thought the first twenty minutes, including the previews, were golden. (wasn't sure if that's really a spoiler =/) The rest was good and Tom Cruise stole the damn show every time he came on but those first twenty minutes absolutely blew my MIND! It's way better than that shitheap excuse for comedy they call Pineapple Express. By that I mean it's actually worth paying money for.

I refuse to see this movie because they say the "R" word in it 17 times.
Holy shit. This movie is freakin hilarious. If you were one of those people who thought Pineapple Express was great, you'll find this 100x funnier. If you were one of those people who didn't really like Pineapple Express, you'll still find this 100x funnier.
The reason why this movie worked so much is because of its all-star cast, and without it, this movie probably would not work at all. Not only that, but the way it uses its all-star cast. You'd never fucking expect these people to be so good/in these rolls. I thought I was gunna think Downey Jr. was going to be the star and everyone else was just side characters, but I was wrong. I loved everybody.
Robert Downey Jr.: It's true that I couldn't even understand half the things he was saying because he was in character that much, but whenever he spoke I still laughed. He was awesome as a black guy.
Apla Chino (Brendan T. Jackson I think the actor was): His character gets 100x more hilarious near the end, but he's still funny when he's making fun of RDJ's character.
Ben Stiller: I don't get why people hate Ben Stiller, sure he's been in shitty movies, and he usually just plays the goofy nice guy or the self-absorbed guy, but in this one he kind of combines the two, and it creates hilarious results. He wasn't the funniest character in the movie, but he was still damn hilarious.
Jay B.: Since I was hearing the least about this guy, I thought he was just going to be a secondary character, but what the fuck, he had more lines in this movie than he did in Knocked Up, and hell he was funnier in this movie than in Knocked Up. Every time he interacted with a character I was laughing my ass off. He was the one who was playing the goofy guy...but in a war movie.
Jack Black: I've heard they didn't really develop him that much, but he seemed just fine to me. I thought he was hilarious as the crazy heroin addicted comedian.
Steve Coogan: In the short time that he was alive(not a spoiler, it shows it in the trailer that he dies) he was funny. But if you think you are spoiled by the fact that he dies in the trailer, you are not. It gets funnier in the movie.
Bill Hader: I should mention this now, but I did not find the first...oh, 20 minutes-half an hour funny (maybe less though). Everything before they land in the middle of the Jungle in the real battle was just o.k. to me, including Bill Hader. But he got much more hilarious as time passed by.
Matthew McConehay(or however you spell his name): While I've never seen any of his shitty dumb-ass rom-coms (Failure to Launch, Fool's Gold), he just seems like the kind of person who can act. I don't know how to explain it; I just think he has some kind of charm. He really shows it in this movie because he is funny, especially near the end of the movie.
Now for the cream of the crop, Tom Cruise: Fucking hilarious, in my opinion, better than RDJ's character. One reason he worked so well is because not in a million years would you expect Tom Cruise to be in a movie like this. And while at the beginning of the movie I thought he was only a 5/10 funny-wise, he quickly rose to be the funniest freakin character in this movie, I mean god damn, when he's dancing with Bill Hader and at the end of the movie...it's seriously the funniest scene
Overall, I give this a 9/10. Best movie I've seen this summer besides Iron Man and The Dark Knight. There were sooo many funny scenes in this movie, and it was a great return for the action comedy, (better than what Pineapple Express tried to do anyway).

I missed all the fake trailers because I had to wait for my girlfriend to finish her shift at work. I was pretty choked. Fortunately I'm a projectionist at the theater so I'll just watch them tomorrow.
Robert Downy Jr. pretty much made the entire movie. Ben Stiller was just being himself, which is never good. Jack Black was fine I suppose. I quite liked Tom Cruise to be honest. I didn't know he was in it. It bothered me so bloody much for the first half of the movie because I wasn't sure who was playing his character.

"IMA LEAD FARMER, MUTHFUCKA!"
This was a great movie. I don't even like Cruise and I thought he was one of the funniest ones. This and Pineapple Express are pretty much incomparable in that they're both different styles of action/comedy. I tried deciding on which was better but they're apples and oranges.

Dude. I would see it opening day and probably have like 10 friends there with me. Plus all the gay rights activists protesting it would be worth it.
I still can't believe they actually got Tobey Maguire to do that though. Especially when they poked fun at that whole "Best Kiss" award thing.

This movie is like completely inspired by Ben Stiller's genius. Robert Downey Jr. is absolutely freaking hilarious. The whole thing about 5 completely different actors lost in a jungle in Vietnam is just funny in itself.
Great movie to see with friends.
