I just got this new Dell Inspiron 1525 a few weeks ago, and I love it, except that it has a horrible battery life. I have maybe an hour and 10 minutes after a full battery charge and thats with the display settings on "Balanced". This is my first laptop so I don't know if that's normal or not but I still think its pretty short for a brand new laptop.
Advice? Suggestions?

Send an e-mail to Dell asking how long it should last, you may have a faulty battery. However, if you're using the CD drive in it alot that is a major drain on it.

It may be because you have a good spec'd laptop, my laptops battery didn't last much over an hour too brand new.

Same here. I'm not usually too far from an outlet though so I don't mind.

Actually, that is not horrible for a laptop battery. Mine lasts 2 hours in balanced and an hour and a half in high performance. You may be able to get a larger battery if needed (most batteries out of the factory are 6 cell and you can usually buy a 12 cell one which will last longer).

Sounds faulty to me, reviews of the 1525 say it gets two hours on the 'high performance' battery setting.

My Dell Inspiron (I forget which) last 4 hours. I just bought a new battery too.

Thanks, I'll check into one of those. I'm not really in a hurry though, since I usually only use my laptop at home and theres always an outlet nearby.

Your computer is 20 better than me, and my battery life is about the same. My only problem is that I'm getting parity errors and shit like that. Apparently it happens with alot of Dell Inspirons.
Good luck.

We got a dell last december. It's not an inspiron, but we had the same trouble with battery life. I called dell and told them I was having terrible battery life, and they sold me a 12 cell for a 6 cell price. They have great customer service.

That sounds about normal, to me. My laptop gets 2 or so hours on balanced, 1 and a half on high performance. My friend also got a brand new dell a few weeks ago and her battery only lasts for about 2 and a half hours on balanced.

Look to see if they offer an extended life battery
Actually, now my computer battery charger thingy wont charge my laptop and the averarge charge of my laptop goes from 100% to 20 percent, where it for some reason moves to hibernate mode, in a good 45 mins.

You can change the hibernate thing in the power settings.
I consistently get over 3.5 hours on my HP business laptop. Hey that may be why, it's not a dell.

I have a dell inspiron 1720 and my battery last a little more then 2 hours. Your battery should last longer then mine so I'm thinking there is something wrong with yours.
