Oh man, there were some classics.

Short Circuit, hence the avatar - what a fucking lovable robot!
Gremlins - what a fucking lovable Mogwai!
Tango & Cash - what a fucking lovable buddy-cop movie!

I agree with your choices.

I add

The Money pit- Tom Hanks, enough said.

Rocky III- Mr.T, Stallone and the best 80's work out song ever.

The original Rambo trilogy

First blood part one because it is easily the strongest of the series and has the best story, and its got stallone with a hunting knife.

Rambo II because its a good follow up to the original and its got stallone!

Rambo III because its a film about blowin everything up and its got stallone!

Bloodsport - I loved that movie, I sometimes still quote lines from it, and it was before Jean-Claude Van Damme became the arrogant prick he is today.

Altered States - This movies was kick ass from what I remember, gave me a bit of a scare as a child.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off - Classic!

There are just to many to mention.

I like this tons more than Fear and Loathing, to be honest. Bill Murray is one of my favorite actors ever.

Yeah, Bill Murray was awesome as Hunter Thompson. I guess where the buffalo roam was more accessible than fear and loathing, since it covers several books. Better comedy, too. Its all about super sunday part, that was great

The Mad Max series are probably some of the best movies to come out of the 80's. Some of them where banned in NZ becuase the gang themes.
I also can't believe no-ones mentioned Back to the Future and The Neverending Story.
They were my favorite movies when I was a kid.

Agreed, but the original Mad Max was made in the late seventies.
And what kid didn't want to be Marty McFly?

Personally, I prefer Robocop Too:

But seriously, Robocop changed my life. The passion of the man/machine was enough to inspire justice in all of us.

That list almost made me want to make out with you, and I'm not even gay.
I would have left off "Scarface" though, but I think that's just 'cause I had it overhyped. Also, I would still have to include "The Dead Pool", just 'cause it was the only 80's Dirty Harry flick.

The Goonies
Indiana Jones Movies
Who Framed Roger Rabbit?
Ghost Busters

I thank god every day that I have a brother who grew up in the 80's so he could share these movies with me.

There's a lot more than this but I never have been too good listing off favourites with out having a list.

Police Academy started in 1984 - Steve Guttenberg was my absolute favorite 80s film, I don't really care for action films but Rambo, and Bloodsport definitely at the top :( how I miss Steve Guttenberg in films.

Edit: I forgot about Porkys! Porkys 2 (revenge - i think?) is one of the most amazing comedy's out there even today. If you have not seen the Porkys series don't waste another minute :P

I liked the guy that did the sound effects, and his introduction in the movie (Police Academy) where they are sitting on the bench in the police office and the guys all like "I'm in for this" and he makes machine gun fire noises and the whole department hits the floor.

Plus The Breakfast Club, of course.

I can't believe it took so long for someone to say Labyrinth. Dance magic dance!

So I'm just going to agree with everything that's already been said and add the second best puppet movie of all time: The Dark Crystal.
