The XBLA classic combining flashy firework-like displays with old school gameplay has returned, with 6 modes and multiplayer. It is essentially everything that was addicting about the first one and took it to the next level. Instead of a simple combo that lasts until you die, you now have little green dots that appear after you've blasted the various shapes. Hoover them up to get a monster combo going.
6 different modes ensures you'll be playing it all the time. Helps if you have competitive friends to constantly raise the bar with.

I absolutely loved the first one, and was looking forward to this one as much as any arcade game, but what a dissapointment. I mean, I only played the trial, but it was enough to put me off, it just seemed way too easy. Now, im not the greatest, and on the first my highest score was around 500,000, whereas on this I scored over 3,000,000 just starting up and not even trying. Im sure the other modes make it quite fun, but I loved the first one because to get a high score you had to be extremely good. They've just removed the thing I loved about it, the difficulty.

..maybe 3,000,000 isn't considered a high score in the second one?

It wont be, but when the higest score was around 52,000,000 on the first one (From memory), the ones on the second will be reaching stupidly high.

3,000,000 isn't a high score at all anymore, I've heard people getting 150+ million in deadline, where you only have three minutes. Your argument is flawed and you should buy the game now. The original post stated that you don't lose the combo when you die, hence you get higher scores. I don't get how that would put you off the game at all.

Yes, exactly, presuming you still get lives every amount of points, there's little point to staying alive as long as you can, because in the first, you'd get more points the longer you live. Now, you get the same points for dieing as you do for not.

i think the new one is jsut as fun as the old one. yes the combos are different, and your gun doesnt change, but that all just adds to the new feel of the game. plus i think that the new game modes make up for it in themselves

Getting new lives isn't as easy as every 75,000 points anymore. I think you get a new one for every digit you make on your score, which makes losing lives very scary.
I also find it scary that I'm on 163 million on Pacifism and yet I'm still not in the top 1000.

I managed to get in the 300 million for that, and I was making a variety of noises whenever i slipped through the 50,000 blue diamonds on the screen, dieing when I hit a gate.
My score put me as 98th. Although its probably more like 1,098th by now.

I want your gamertag Zombie-Dave. You look like the kinda guy I can compete with for highscores on that game. Only once did one of my friends topped me on all the modes. I've made sure he'll never see that again.
And yeh, most of the deaths I make are hitting the end of the gates. Just stay still damnit!

I can only assume you're Skreb Masters. Yeh, it's good to have a challenge, and someone decent to compete with.
I seem to have gotton shit at it at the moment, which sucks.
When I beat sequence for the first time I was about 24th. That same score is now nowhere near the top, and I can't beat it.

haha, I love that game, though i've only played the demo, because i'm too lazy to buy it. but anyway, I loved the first one and the second one is just as good, with even MORE Seizure-inducing gameplay. i mean, what else could you ask for?
