I read the article yesterday at work and I laughed all the way, heh. We need more, please! Having never heard of Aiden before and considering myself an open-minded music lover, I thought "Well, they might look like a bunch of child molesters, but I might at least give the music a listen." And I did. And OH. MY. GOD. I try to keep away from bad music, but this shit hit me so hard that I sat through the whole One Love video with my jaw on the floor thinking "What the fuck???" I've heard hundreds of artists from various genres in my life, but I have never, ever, ever heard such an uninspired, unoriginal, plagiaristic, pointless pile of steaming shit (although, Tokio Hotel comes to mind...). My english isn't even good enough to express how FUCKING HORRIBLE this band is.
Dark, scary image? Check.
Nonsensical lyrics filled with death and despair? Check.
Smooth, no-balls production? Check.
Total lack of memorable hooks? Check.
I could go on naming these clichés all day long. Bands like these are the doom of music industry.

But what amuses me the most is the way that some people actually DEFEND this pathetic joke of a band, trying to convince us that Aiden are, in fact, "real" music and that this wiL clown carries a serious message and that we basically don't know shit. I mean come on! This is like... it's not even open for discussion. This band is so worthless and completely fucking shit that anybody who likes them loses all my respect immediately. There IS difference between good and bad music. And sure, everyone has their own taste, but... This is plain bad. It's pure evil. Who the fuck likes this band? I'm absolutely shocked that they actually have fans.

Ok..so..Being from the Seattle area, I am very familiar with this band. I used to work with Angels mom in a restaurant at one point. [The head circled on the left.]
I agree..their music sucks. I've seen them grow from playing shitty opening shows and handing out free shitty demos at a shitty little venue called Club IMPACT
They, however, do have an amazing stage presence and are extremely nice guys.

Too bad they write horrible lyrics and don't have an original bone in their body.

For starters, Dave, i just want to let you know i just now joined the site, at 6 in the morning, because i read this article. I laughed the entire time, plus im already a fan of cyanide and happiness, so i figured why not. Anyway, back to the article, i didn't read everyones post, but did anybody else catch that the video (the one copying AFI, I can't recall the name) was pretty much just clips from the movie Dead silence? so...they cant make up their own videos either. I was going through Windows Media Player and I find a song by Aiden. What the fuck?
'It's Cold Tonight' proclaims the label. So, being the open-minded fellow that I am, I listen to it and the annoying guitar rip-offs and the excuse for singing had my ears nearly off before I knew it.
Needless to say I flogged my sister for putting it on there.

I remember hearing about this band while watching Headbanger's Ball (with my bandmates. The reason why we were watching HB is a whole 'nother story). An advertisement for this band came on. It started with the music, which made my ears bleed a little, then they showed the band. I was already thinking, "This is the gayest goddamn thing I've seen".

Then it came: a reviewer of their album muttered the line "This is the next Metallica!"

As much as I hate Metallica's last 3 albums (soon to be 4), this was just the icing on the shit cake. I really couldn't believe that this band got called heir to the throne of Metallica. Metallica's early music is somewhat of a legacy and has to be judged seperate of their current material. What did this music reviewer do? Pick up St. Anger and think he heard everything that Metallica has done?

That being said, I have no damn clue what kind of point I just made.

Seeing as how so many people hated Aiden, I decided I go to their show at Bumbershoot so I could punch little girls and see if just how homo they were. Mind you, I had seen them play before and they had been pretty gay before but I wanted to know if they had gotten less gay or what.
They were even worse than I thought.

There were maybe only 50 people there tops since Death Cab For Cutie was playing at the same time. Although the kids there were all about 12 years old and extremely emo. One kid I recognized from the Kill Hannah show last year. And that kid had written "I <3 Kill Hannah" on his chest. That's a bad sign already.

So probably 4 songs in, the lead singer proclaims "Aren't I the best at guitar playing? I'm great." That started the douchebaggery that was to come.

He then told us that their new album was coming out in October and that it was "very dark, fucked up dance music" so if you liked "very dark and very fucked up music" you would love their new album. I giggled at that.
He then dedicated "One Love" to all the gays and lesbians because, on their tours, they saw some terrible places where "people were still racist and there wasn't a Starbucks on every corner" (LOL A SEATTLE JOKE! HAR HAR) and that, for the gays and lesbians, it was hard to be a "minority within a minority". Seeing as how every kid there was white except me, I really wondered what the other minority for the gays and lesbians was.

They began playing the riff to Beat It by Michael Jackson and after playing it a couple of times they asked who liked Michael Jackson. Everyone cheered (of course) and he began saying Michael Jackson jokes. Like "Yeah, we all love him even if he is a child molester." and "Face it. He's been sticking his finger up little kids' bums for the last 10 years."

When 1 person decided to crowd surf, he then told EVERYONE to start doing it. Mind you, these people were only crowd surfing over about 3 rows of people.
When they "finished" their set everyone asked for an encore. They came back out, the singer grabbed the mic, and began walking offstage again saying, "We'll play more! JUST KIDDING!" before going back to the middle of the stage. This was the only good part because one kid standing next to me yelled out "YOU'RE A FAGGOT!" and I cheered him on.

He also had everyone do a one of those wall of death things. Seeing as how everyone was about 12 and couldn't hardcore dance, those who DID know how to (all 3 of them) ended up destroying the middle school kids and since everyone was too gay to understand that people would get trampled, I ended up being the person who would pick people up. And some other douchebag was throwing punches and hit me right in the mouth. I cut my lip and my teeth and was bleeding and everything.

I do beleive that you said you would talk about their music, and not their image. We see a crappy two line piece about their style of music and then you attack their film clips which is their image once again. Aiden have a unique style of emo music, which we havnt seen before, and kudos to them giving it a shot. I have seen this band live and they were amazing, Will put alot of effort into showing the crowd the amount of talent he has. And 'The last sunrise' is a perfect example of what this band can do.

This shit doesn't make any sense. Apparently it's supposed to be about wiL's heroin addiction. The little girl in the black tutu is supposed to represent heroin.
Die Romantic- no idea. Video is filled with steriotypical goth imagery. Complete with screaming, makes a perfect mold of a goth song, except the chorus is in major and sounds like a pop song, which is confusing. Which target market are they appealing to?
I Set My Friends on Fire- filled with screaming and an odd whispering part in the video. Also some weird shot of a guy with no pants on eating a box of donuts.
We Sleep Forever- they're playing in the graveyard. That's the gist of the videos. Some mumble-singing about angels and insanity and whatnot. Also, they'res a ventriloquism dummy in there someplace. 'This razorblade was meant for me' proclaims the singer. One almost gets the sense it's about killing yourself and death.
Plus, all the videos have a popular theme: The lead singer, decked out in who knows how many pounds of makeup, either singing, screaming or making strange facial expressions at the camera. In between shots of supposedly representative people and the other band, he's always right there.

I was sitting alone in the computer room reading the latest Explosm comic.
Since curiosity had decided to put a pause to its desire of killing cats, it ran after me instead in such a rush that I ended up opening the Aiden article. By complete accident.
I went into a fit of giggles while reading the first few pages.
When the phrase, "And then you died and shit..." came up, I completely lost it.
And to top it off, I stopped breathing at the sight of the oiled up black man.
