Totally didn't know where to post this.

Anyway, does anyone know a good way to learn photoshop without having to join some kind of class or buy a tutorial? I'm aware i must sound like an idiot, but I'm sure someone here must know of one.

Depends what you want to learn how to do, really, Photoshop's too complex to just learn in one tutorial.

Google "photoshop basic techniques", and go from there.

But more importantly, just play with it. You'll learn alot more just by figuring out what everything does, then trying to find everything. If you get stuck, and can't get that look that your trying to pull off, google it.

I'll tell you what taught me the basics. Look up tutorials to do certain effects, like "Laser beams" or "Electric water" or shit like that, and eventually you'll get the basics of layering and such.

Probably the most important thing you want to learn, if you haven't already, is layers. Once you've got that down, everything else is pretty much a breeze.

Basically just use a lot of blur and all the cool effects.

If you just want to draw shit with it, use the Brush tool. From there you can select the brush color and size and softness, and it's even better if you have a drawing tablet to go with it. You can download custom brush shapes as well.

I wouldn't look to deviantart for tutorials, but more as maybe to see what looks your aspiring to or how to categorize what you want to do with photoshop.
