FUCK YEAH

This game doesn't come out till March (according to GameStop.com) but I'm soooo fucking excited for it.

I used to skateboard religiously and still do once in a while. All I ever wanted was a realistic skateboarding game. I played the shit out of Skate 1 and still do. To me, Skate was the perfect game. It's all I ever wanted out of a skateboarding game. It gives me boners. It had almost no faults in my opinion, but I just saw the new gameplay trailer and nearly shit my pants..

Prepare for boners :yes::yes::yes:

Ndc5YbQM0gA

YES you can get off of your board. That was basically the only thing lacking in the original other than maybe the replay editor.

Which leads to an array of awesome new tricks like one footed grabs and HOLY SHIT fastplants, no complies, bonelesses and fucking HIPPIE JUMPS. Plus handplants.

And YOU CAN MOVE OBJECTS. That's so fucking rad, you can push tables and whatnot. To make a terrain more skateable.

It's seems like the first game was merely a demo to test the new epic gameplay. This seems like it will exceed my expectations and then some. My friend and I were talking about what they could possibly improve upon and the only thing we could think of was getting off the board. It seems they are doing that and a bunch of other shit I couldn't even imagine.

The only thing I'm hoping the do (which I can find absolutely no reason why they wouldn't) is fix some of the physics and, again, the replay editor. I'm looking for something like the Halo Theater thing, which would be best case scenario, but any improvement would be an improvement. Basically I just want to be able to move the camera (not just like 4/5 "views"). And it would be rad if they made some sort of actual editor, not just for 20 second clips. Like put clips together and make full parts like videos.

It's gonna be good :hmm:

No it won't. Kill yourself.

The first one was amazing. I cannot wait for the next one. I was hoping that you could get off your board in the next one because whenever you bail and you come back in front of a wall; it takes forever to move.

I literally figuratively shat my pants when I first saw the new gameplay trailer. The only other thing I can think of to improve, is making it easier to do lip tricks.

According to GameStop (http://www.gamestop.com/browse/search.aspx?N=0&Ntk=TitleKeyword&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntt=skate%202) it ships 3/3/2009, which I'm gonna say is the release date? Is that how it works?

I looked at www.easkate.com and it doesn't seem to say anything about a release date..

BKS
08-14-2008, 10:05 PM
No cheesy storylines. The only problem I had with it was that some of the tricks were a bit too difficult, because you had to get them just right. If not, they were a different trick.

Shit killed me.

My main complaint with Skate 1 was the actual environment, and from the looks of the gameplay trailer it's been improved on a lot.

The very few things i thought were wrong with the first Skate have already been mentioned in this thread, and it seems all the things i thought were missing from the first Skate will be in Skate 2 as well, so it seems Skate 2 will be a definate buy for me. I was impressed enough with the first one, but if they're fixing up the wrongs as well as some sweet new additions, then there is NO WAY Skate 2 can be a failure.

Also, you get to MOVE OBJECTS!? Jesus, i would have never thought of that!

I think a realistic speedboarding game would be incredible, maybe Skate could branch off to cover that later on. New game definitely looks cool, and all I ever skate is old school so I'm digging the boneless/no comply shit going on. Although hippy jumps will always be incredibly lame, unless it's the Gonz kickflipping his board under a rail while he jumps over it. That was cool.

fisdunctional
08-18-2008, 2:15 PM
ok, first of it's called longboarding newb. second of all, there is already deathrace, and honestly, there isn't enough material for a longboarding only game, bomb hill, go to top of hill, repeat.

Okay, first of all the board is called a longboard, and even that term is sketchy when you start dealing with minis and the like. Speedboarding is when you go flying down hills at 40+mph standing up, you fucking idiot. If someone were to say 'HEY I'M GOING LONGBOARDING' I'd imagine them rolling all over their neighborhood trying to feel core. If someone said 'HEY I'M GOING SPEEDBOARDING' then I'd probably ask to come since it's insanely fucking fun.

0MPRVVwu4yw

There's a lot of potential for a speedboarding game, and you obviously don't know a thing about the sport. Just because you rolled down some 18mph hill in your neighborhood doesn't mean shit kid. Put down the sector nine, buy a real board, break 30mph standing up, and then bust a coleman slide at that speed. Oh, and deathrace sucks anyway.

Gudizere
08-19-2008, 11:55 AM
I never really caught on to Skate. Sure, it was (and still is) a great game, and the best skateboarding game around, but for me it just fell flat on it face. The tried to remove the button mashing, and just ended up with stick waggling. Still, this looks worth a good game.

Ok, I have a sector 9, ok I go down 20 mile an hour hills, guess what, I know I'm not hard core, guess what, I don't race, but my friend does, he goes all over the place, and yes, I do know about the sport, and when I ask him whats up he says he is going longboarding. And honestly, your just some kid like me who wishes he could do anything near that fucking insane. and you

As for skate 2. I really don't like the idea of moving objects, you would have to place tihngs just right, I think it is a good idea, but it would have to be really easy for anybody to actually use it well. I hope it is, but I have my doubts

EDIT: dude, and I just watched the video and the guy in the white shirt has a sector nine.

Skate is without a doubt the best game game I own. The main problem I have with skate are the missions, I wish they were more realistic and trick oriented (ex: do a tre flip down this gap) rather than just trying to get "x" amount of points. The game engine was absolutely incredible, and from the looks of it, Skate 2 is going to be even better.

Oh man, I just got worried, I just watched the videos again, and it looks like the town is made for skateboarding. It looks to planned out, like a tony hawk style, where everything is in order and just waiting to be hit, anywhere. I would normally think this is awesome, but that is what I really like about the original skate, they made a normal town, added a few special things, and a few parks. I got the most enjoyment out of finding something that looked unskatable and making a sweet line out of, how will I do that if it is all set up?

Think about it this way, they're probably just showing a few really good spots. At least that's how I'm going to look at it.

Plus, the map is obviously going to be bigger meaning its going to have even more good spots to skate (all the "spots" in the first one we're always really concentrated with skateable terrain).

I would never say anyone is ever too stoked for the release of Skate 2, but if I did, it would be Junglebunny.
My favorite thing about Skate was that you could do all of the tricks at the beginning of the game; you didn't have to wait for a "special encounter with Tony Hawk" to learn the Hurricane grind or 900.
I think bailling is my favorite part of the game. My favorite thing to do was go to the top of the Megaramp, ollie off the side, and do half of a backflip and land on my face.
Holy shit I think I'm getting a boner for this game.

Demo's out for 360. It looks like improved the physics and made the animation smoother and more realistic. Feels like the added a better sense of gravity (don't launch or even ollie nearly as high). New tricks are fun. Nice to be able to do an ollie north or a benihana over a gap.

Tricks seem like they're a little harder (which is good imo) For instance, flatground 360's are actually difficult to do, which makes executing one more enjoyable.

Demo is really short though, you need to play it multiple times to get the whole experience of all the new features. About 10-15 minutes depending on how fast you beat it. But, the thing is the faster you beat it the more time you get at the end. You get about 4 or 5 "missions" and you receive more time with each one you finish. Doing everything almost perfectly (after playing about 4 times), the most time I can get is about 9:50.

The demo is pretty short, if you blast through the objectives you should have at least 9 mins to freeskate.

The area the demo takes place is pretty shitty, however like the demo for the first game, there is a glitch that can take you outside the demo area.

And you'd be suprised how much area is open outside the demo. You'd be lucky to see it all in 8 minutes, its that damn big. There's a couple of vids up on the net showing the glitch, I don't have the link handy.

I'm definetly buying this game.

Just played the demo. Very impressed, very different from the Tony Hawks I'm used to. I'll definitely have to rent this game. It's true, even though the tricks are harder to do and you can't combo all around the place 50 times in a row, whenever you do get a trick done it's quite beautiful :shobon:

I don't think this thread is old enough. If it was Elder Scrolls II, maybe...

I think I enjoy the multiplayer demo more. If playing with a friend, just play 4 person Hall of Meat and crack your noggin on the pool and stuff. (There's a spot on the glass ceiling where your character can get stuck and spasm, and easily get 50K+ points, if you feel like being a dick. Not sure if it works on anything but 360).

The single player demo is alright, too. After you blow through the objectives, I like to make a line by grinding that ledge/rail (the last objective), over to that step-up thing where you have to move that ramp to get up to.

And no I haven't played the real game.

Bump.

So I didn't have money for this the first couple weeks it came out, then I got side tracked with "real life" and actually forgot about getting it. Then I was at Walmart at like 3am, drunk, one night last week or so, saw Skate 2 and decided I needed it.

This game is great, moving objects is fun, and it looks about twice as good as the original (as far as the animations and whatnot, also overall graphics). Some tricks are harder to do (which is a good thing), like flatground 360's. You actually have to try and do them well to get the full rotation. Some of the story is gay, and some of it is really fun, which is how Skate. was.

They're also releasing DLC for it from time to time and already have like 4 available. They have the Classic pack, which is about 4 spots from the original, Rob Dyreks Fantasy Factory, and a Filmers Pack that has a ton of new cameras for the awesome new replay feature.

You'll buy this game if you're not a faggot.

I didn't buy the film pack. While it would be cool, I just don't see myself using it enough. But I have the two area packs. I bought the classic one just for the Community Center. It was totally worth the money. Also, online has been updated, there is no lag or anything anymore.

Just got an update (http://forum.ea.com/eaforum/posts/list/217984.page) that fixed a few things. Mostly little things with the exception of making the off board controls smoother and some Hall of Meat glitches.

I'm not sure how many of you play online, but the Hall of Meat mode is probably the funnest game, if can find a game where nobody glitches. I can get an honest 50-60,000 points on a certain map and then some faggot glitches and flies across the map and gets 98,4238 points. So needless to say I'm happy about this update.

Not all glitches were fixed, just the off board ones I believe (i.e. "superman" or "trampoline" glitch). No comply glitch still works and probably others.

Yeah, I know this is thread necro, but me and my friend have been playing this game for two days straight, and have about 50 clips saved from the funniest bails. Think I might make a montage of them. If I do, I'll post it here.
Oh, and yeah I have a question, for the hall of meat challenges, does anyone know how to make a bail last 10 seconds?

bunglejunny
07-19-2009, 7:33 PM
You go to this ditch thing and bail. You roll down the hill for like 20 seconds, it's surprisingly easy.
