Let me introduce Terry Pratchett.

He is a fantasy author with a twist. Nearly every sentence cracks you up, but still tells a good story.

He is most famous for his Discworld novels. The Discworld is a world that leans on the back of four great elephants. The elephants themselves lean on the shell of the great Turtle A'tuin, a turtle of 15.000 miles that swims through the Galaxy.

Have you read any, you want to read any? I'm on my seventh novel of him (Pyramids!) and I'm a really big fan.

And to you geeks out there, there is a Gurps version of the novels!

I just recently got into the Discworld novels. So far I have Soul Music, Wyrd Sisters, Equal Rites, Mort, Hogfather, Witches Abroad and I also have the first two books, The Color of Magic and the Light Fantastic in graphic novel form AND the Art of the Discworld which is fantastic to look at if you like the books.

I have a lot of the discworld novels, and I love them. The entire world is so unique and comically inspired.

Mort is probably one of my favourites.
When death first meets Mort, and his entrance is given such a dark feel, only to be ruined by a small patch of ice.

Terry Pratchett is a genius.

I've only read two of his books, Making Money and the one about time (I always forget it's name) but I really enjoyed them both. I've always wanted to read more of his work but I've always been too preocuppied by other fantasy series that I was really into.

It's terrible he has alzheimers now.

Love me some Pratchett. My favorite book of his is Good Omens, which he wrote with Neil Gaiman, about the Apocalypse. My favorite characters from Discworld are probably Vimes and the Watch, followed by Death.

I really like Death, he's really very funny. His daughter is great as well, and Moist Van Lipwig not to mention the Thief of Time. The little monk guy if I recall.

Terry Pratchett apparently gets mail from terminally ill fans who tell him that when they die they hope that Death is exactly like Death of the Discworld, these letters cause him to 'stare at the wall for some time' according to him.

I love Susan, she's like a gothic Mary Poppins in Hogfather and I also love a lot of the anthropomorphisised animals such as The Grim Squeaker and Greebo the Cat.

Death of Rats (The Grim Squeaker) is great, I love how he wanted to ride a skeletal cat but Death wouldn't let him.

The way Pratchett describes the world is amazing, from random stories about giant talking trees, to how because of the magical background of the discworld, light is saturated with magic and moves "lazily" and slowly during a sunrise

Love this dude. I recommend the Discworld series to anyone with enough patience to start from beginning to end. It's not really necessary to, but it makes it so much better.

Also, the Neil Gaimen and Terry Pratchett collaboration, "Good Omens" is one of the funniest books I have ever read. I've bought it twice for me and about four times as gifts.

I've been reading the discworld books since the 5th grade or something, and they're probably my most loved books ever. Every single one keeps me laughing all the way through.
I especially love Death, he is fucking hilarious.

I've read all the Discworld books except Making Money and Thud! Terry Pratchett is a genius. My favorite book would have to be Thief of Time.

I am a huge fan. Just read "Going Postal" and giggled all the way through. Yeah, a 280 pound long haired dude giggling.. It is a skill that never should be forgotten and Terry Pratchet makes sure that is the case. "Good Omens" was excellent. I am immigrating to Disc World in the near future.

Terry Pratchett is one of my favorite authors. I love how he combines humour and fantasy. I believe I've read at least 6-7 of his books (it's been a while since I read one of them...). I should probably read another one, they're genius!

I think I've manage to read every Discworld book and they are all utterly fantastic. Particular favourites would be either Guards! Guards! or the Science of the Discworld Pt. II. The latter explains the origins of the universe, evolution and the idea of space elevators :) intertwined with a Discworld story. Genius.

he is definitely one of my favourite authors for sure. Tom Holt is pretty funny too. did anyone ever see The Hogfather, that made for TV movie? it was pretty awesome. Death is my all time favourite Discworld character, and Mort is my favourite book by Pratchett, but i did love them all, a very good read. Dean R. Koontz is still my #1, i recommend that people read Seize The Night.

Iv read almost all of his books. The ones i skipped are most of the witches books. I also have the last hero which is another one of his books but has much more pictures.

I enjoyed The Last Hero because the visual depiction of Rincewind was exactly how I pictured him in my head. Poor miserable spud-loving coward that he is. I'm currently reading through Science of Discworld II and I love it. I've never seen such a perfect balance of science and fantasy. I also bought 'Nanny Oggs Cookbook' which is good for the novelty of a book supposedly written by an old, beer guzzling, innuendo spouting witch. Nanny Ogg reminds me a lot of my own mother.

I loved the Nomes trilogy (The Bromeliad to americans)

Read the last one, Wings, as it was £1.50, first and it got me hooked.

Mort definitely is my favorite, but Making money is a close one.
Separately my favorite character isn't really a character because its Luggage. Makes me laugh all the time.
