This thread is about the secret about there being a halo 4 or another game dealing with halo that isnt halo wars. Bungie was supposed to make their announcement at E3 but didn't due to some stupid reason. Here is the article that one website has.

CVG has somewhat validated what our source told us yesterday, that a new Halo game will be announced by Microsoft at E3. They did a bit of digging with their own sources and got the same answer we did, plus assurance that the new game would not include the beloved Master Chief. (Sort of a No-brainer)

Halo is one of the best selling game franchises in history, and it’s no wonder that Microsoft would be quite keen on expediting another installment to market. The reaction to the news is drawing mixed reactions from the gaming community.

Some are calling the notion of another Halo installment so soon after Halo 3 a mistake. Personally I think they’re missing the difference between “an announcement that a game is in development”, and “releasing a game”. They are far from the same thing.

Others, equally loyal to the franchise seem to be pretty excited by the prospect.

Do you think this announcement will be Halo 4? A Prequel? Peter Jackson’s entry into the foray?

I think it will include master cheif in some way, I can't imagine playing as another character in customs but I guess they might still keep the spartan character, who knows.

Also, I really don't care about this new Halo game. If you ask me they should stick to writing books about the series unless they are going to do something really cool with the game. Halo Wars just might be the last Halo titled game I'll buy.

No shit. Of course there will be more GTA's, they are one of the best game series in existence, and since they are not based on each other limitless sequels can be made just as long they are all on the same formula.

And I think it will be fun to play as the Arbiter or something like that in Halo 4. I just always thought he was better than the Master Chief.

Yes, Halo 3 was the end of the trilogy concerning the Human/Covanent War. But Bungie have said before that they would gladly put Master Chief in a completely new story they doesn't involve Covanent or Flood at all.

Regarding a Halo 4, it really wouldn't suprise me. People are going to keep buying Halo games as long as they are being made. So would it be suprising? No, not really. Are they going to try some new formula? Possibly. It's too early to say now. If Halo Wars ends up being a good game they may start experimenting more.

Personally I think Bungie may be working on an entirely new franchise. I have a feeling they want to start branching off and doing things besides Halo stuff.

Must just be me then. I can only play for like an hour tops before I get really bored. Not even singing along to the reggae songs remains fun.

Then again, that happens in pretty much every game I play. Like when my brother still had WoW. Whenever I'd play I'd do a couple quests then go to Stormwind and get drunk and dance on tables naked. Much like I do in real life.

A failure in what sense? Every Halo was among the top selling games of the year it was released, and possibly all time. The franchise has a huge following, and even now there are more fanboys for Halo than one could possibly count. I think you might confusing personal abhorrence for commercial (or general) failure. Another addition to the series is probably the best move they could ever make. In all reality it won't be released for a number of years, so by then Halo 3 will have slowed down even more and we'll all be anxious to see what the next has in store. I'm sure it will once again set records for sales on opening night.

The thing that bothers me the most about the GTA games is that the missions all seem to be the same after awhile. Still , I'll buy every GTA game that comes out . GTA4 multiplayer is more fun then the single player game IMO

On bungies news posts, they clearly state numerous times that they have three big projects in the works that have nothing to do with Master Cheif or the Halo universe. Being the dicks that they are they arent telling us any information on the games.

In a recent video however,it appears that they have integrated a full map making system into the games. Supposedly, you can great an entire map from SCRATCH instead of just adding onto other maps like on forge. Now THAT will be interesting.

Your forgetting that bungie isn't making Halo Wars. Also Microsoft has the rights to the Halo franchise and can let anyone they want make Halo 4. And the rumor is that the studio that did Halo 2 for the pc is making Halo 4.

im considering buying a ps3 and halo would be a good addition to the games it has. Alot of good games like halo should be played on multiple platforms so that everyone can play. More platforms more money for the company so why not do it.

i think that would be a good idea for a new halo game, you could be shotdown over a covenant planet or something.
although i wouldnt want them to make a new halo game without the same effort as they did with halo 3, ive seen other games that are just put out and there just like the previous one. see also:

As someone who was never a gigantic Halo fan, I find the idea of Halo 4 not so engaging. However, for Sergent Johnson, the game must be made. In a voice outtake released before Halo 2, it is revealed that by Johnson's voice actor that, "Halo 4 I get a woman... it's guaranteed. Angela Basset's on board in Halo 4!"
