Listen I don't know how well this will actually work because I dont know many who've read it but I just read it and want to discuss it because it's just such a great book. Post here if you've read it and for the love of Christ will someone teach me to put in spoiler tags so I can actually discuss it without getting booted. The book is A mix of realism and fantasy, took over 30 years to write.

If you haven't read this yet (and I know this is typical) try your best to do so, because this book is magic.

insert spoiler here

Obviously don't make the "/" bold so that it works.

I've never heard of Lanark though, so is it his life story mixed into magic? Why did it take so long to write? I'm confused.

In a way It's the story of his life, his second life. Then he learns all about his first life, Its a bit confusing at first. He has an almost emotionless quality to him Id just read up on Wikipedia or better yet, read the book itself.

EDIT: It took so long because he started writing it as a student('50s), tried to get a part published and failed so he continued writing and finally finished in the '70s and was published in the '80s.

Lanark is a town just down the road from mine. It isn't magical at all.

In the book it explains in his past life he remembered the name Lanark from a picture. When asked his name he couldn't remember so he said "Lanark". Its a fine piece of Scottish literature if I were you I'd give it a read.
