Sprite Contest 3

[Hats of!]

Hello.
I took the task of creating the number 3 in the Spriting contest.
As previous, all you need to do is create a sprite. Not the drink, but a sprite.
Yeah, you know what I'm talking about.
I will need max 16 spriters. No judges since it goes faster without.

The things I'll judge on:
Shadow, the shading is needed.
Looks, it needs to look good.
Color, like shading.
Style, you know what I mean by this.

I used to do some pixel art, but never on a sprite level. I would love to try.

I use photoshop. But I use a 1 pixel pencil on it. I just really don't like paint, and i'm used to the feeling of good ol' potatoshop!

Aheh, yeah, the rules are that you have to use Paint or an equivalent program.

EDIT: the 1-pixel size brush is acceptable too.

Ya shadow, the whole thing is amazing, especially the background! Zoomed in you can see how incredibly everything is shaded, even the smallest things, like just the little red men have about 20 shades of colour!

I decided to go retro and create my own pixel aliens (yes, I made these up). I did my best to make it look as real as the actual game. If you zoom in, you can see the shading effects I did. I don't think I'll get anywhere with this, but I'm quite proud. This took forever.

Monkey - You fluffed it up too much and I don't know if it falls in the pixel art category and there's not a lot of detail

Oh and Rabid monkey what program did you use to AA that because sorry but I doubt you're that good at Anti-Aliasing, in fact I don't think anyone is. Not saying it's against the rules but it's sort of unfair if you got a program to smoothen it out for you.

Pyro came up with the idea of you creating a pokémon. And not mixing two togheter. I thought that idea was swell. And he also came up with a color.
I belive it was this.
(Print the Screen and insert on paint to get the color).

BUT!
I added something I really like. I want you to show me/Pyro what It can evolve to!

As previous, you have about 24 hours on you. This pixels gotta atleast be 75*75. Highest is 120*120.

I don't think that's necessary... it's a white background and after you're done with the 75X75/120x120 drawing you already know what its name is and what it does... no extra time needed

I thought your first sprite was simply fantastic. Just because you THINK your sprite making skills aren't as good as shadow's doesn't mean you should simply give up. I think if Pyro/Hats allows you to do it, you should make a different second sprite, because you have just a good of chance as shadow does to win this right now.

I think Shinanigans should win. Not only is his Sephiroth awesome, but I think ShadowDweller kind of missed the point of the sprite contest. Although his works are extremely well done, they're not sprites - I can't see them being using in any sort of application. In an "MS Paint Art" contest, he'd win - but that's not what this is.

No, I disagree Hats. Shadow did two original pieces. shinanigans did only a red ball and got his other idea from an existant character. The idea was to do something freestyle, meaning your own style.

1. "Freestyle" means they can draw whatever they want. You didn't say draw a completely original character.

2. ShadowDweller's are excellent. But you can't just draw anything in MS Paint and call it a sprite. Like I said before, this is a spriting contest, not an MS Paint Art contest.

Matterialize, I agree on your second part. However, Shadow's beautiful background peice would work as a sprite background or something. I still say that he should win cause I chose to be a lazy ass and his work is flawless. =D

I know it's over now but I thought I should just say technically, most things people have done aren't sprites, sprites are supposed to be small characters that are easy to redraw in different poses so they can be animated for the game. So unless you could draw that sepiroth in 100 different poses pretty easily, it's not really a sprite.
