Rob Zombie's Halloween
(Starring: Danny Trejo and Malcolm McDowell)

I got to see the preview of this movie. I would have written this right after, but my computer has been fucked up.

Anyway, Rob Zombie's version of the 1978 John Carpenter classic follows pretty much the same story. Michael Myers' childhood is more fleshed out than the original, and therefore more disturbing. I highly approve of this part of the film.

Now, the adult Michael Myers is where the film gets iffy. If you just take this film for face value and don't go in trying to compare it to the original, you won't be let down. It works out amazingly as a slasher film. However, as a Halloween film it kind of lacks. Granted, that's on a strict comparison to the good films in the series (1,2, & 4). The problem is that Rob Zombie's version of Michael is really fucking strong and really fucking big. In my opinion that kind of takes away from the appeal of the original. He was really creepy, normal sized, and still ominous. Buffing him up makes him not so much cooler than Jason Vorhees. However, the film closely follows the original (closer than most horror remakes anyway) and is probably the best horror film remake ever. The film wraps nicely showing no evidence that Rob Zombie intends to make a sequel.

All of that said, this film is definately worth seeing.

I give it: 4/5

Hang in there guys. There are almost no John Carpenter films left to remake. With Escape from New York in pre-production, and most likely another Escape from L.A., we'll be out of the woods in about five years.

I plan on seeing this movie, hopefully I end up liking it. I was a fan of Rob Zombies movies, and Halloween, so hopefully it works out.

I saw it about an hour ago.

When I review this film, note the only Halloween films I've seen are the original, 3, and H20. On another note, the original is one my favorite horror films, ever. And I'm am going to compare em.

I think Rob Zombie is a good director. I thought House of 1000 Corpse was a comeplete and utter piece of shit, but I enjoyed the Devil's Rejects. I wouldn't give it a whole lot of praise in the editing department, but everything else was dandy. Props on the soundtrack and the believability of Micheal's backstory.

The acting and character were good. I didn't notice any bad performances except a couple minor teenage characters(but who cares?). Big props to the kid who played young
Micheal, to Scout Taylor-Compton who played the new Laure(and who's fucking hot), to Linderman...I mean Malcolm McDowell,a nd all the nice tits in this movie(you'd praise em too).

But at the bottom point, it was alright. Better than all the Halloween sequels, but pretty much on par with H20(which has a higher RT rating). It is true to the orignal, and Micheal's backstory is interesting, but everything else is better with the original. And everyone knows the reason why this was made was fro the moneys. But I just pray that they won't make another sequel.

I'd give it a 3/5.(rounded from a 2.7)

I saw it last night, and I thought it was pretty good. I think Mr. Zombie made it a little too gory, but I really liked the boobs. I really liked young Michael and I think he's going to be scared for life for making the movie, he's a great actor though.

The best part of the original movies, in my opinion, was Dr. Loomis. He made the film for me. The actor that played him in this movie wasn't as good but he's still passable. I really hoped that the movie would end the same way it did in the original, but I was disappointed. I also didn't like the fact that Michael was so huge and buffed out, he should have been around the same size as the original actor, but it's really not a big deal.

Murder count was 21, thank's Mikey! 2.5/5

Zombie wanted him to die.
I'm glad it ended that way, I thought it was going to end when they were in the car and they said the lines from the original.
