The beatles were done before I was even born, but I find myself liking alot of their songs. Mostly from the Sgt. Peppers era but there are alot of good songs outside of that.

What is your opinion of them? Do they still have a lasting appeal or are they just oldies?

These guys were arguably the best band to ever exist, but you didn't need me to tell you that. You can't hate these guys, unless of course you are retarded, or like rap, either or. Anyway show me a classic rocker who doesn't like them (or at least a few songs) and I'll show you a liar.

If anyone thinks of them as oldies, it's only because they dislike how everyone holds them on a pedestal, not because they don't like their music. And even if you didn't like their music, you have to respect them because they were ahead of their time.

I think the real question is 'Who DOESN'T like the Beatles?'

Good call. You've also got to consider that no other band will ever be as popular as them.

I love The Beatles. Pretty much inspired every fucking band that came after.

My favorite albums are Sgt. Pepper's and Revolver. Classics.

Honestly, i don't really care for them that much. I don't think they're bad or trying to undermine their achievements, but the only song I really liked by them was "Hey Jude". It is also pretty weird considering I like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Yes is starting to catch my interest, and I kind of believe they are a bit overrated.

This.

And I actually really do like the Beatles, they are so interesting due to the huge changes they made in their sound throughout the years. Sgt. Pepper is one of my favorite discs in ever, and probably started my mild habit of being an Anglophile.

How many albums have you heard?

God I love the Beatles a lot because of my dad playing them a lot when I was wee lad.

I can sit down and listen to any of their stuff and I also enjoy listen to rap song that use the Beatles music for the beats.

I got The Beatles 1 and have downloaded a bunch of miscellaneous songs by them, and I went in with an open mind, but I just wasn't feeling it.

I've always been kinda "meh" about the Beatles. I like a few of their songs, but outside of that it just seems mediocre. But they changed music (including their own), and for that I respect them.

Their songs are also fun to play.

That's because that is their hit singles album. I personally don't enjoy their poppy-stuff too much.

But Abbey Road, White Album, Let It Be, Sgt. Peppers, Magical Mystery Tour, and the others like those are gems.

Hell man, you haven't even heard the Beatles then. Not only were those the poppy songs like someone mentioned, they were also the worst edits of them.

You need to hear their broader catalogue. Their obscure songs are fucking phenomenal. Notably, check out Dear Prudence, And Your Bird Can Sing, Got to Get You Into My Life, and you know what, they have too much excellent material to list. There's no such thing as even a mediocre Beatles album, even though Let It Be was picked on a bunch.

This is also coming from someone who, including albums, bootleg concerts, and solo albums, has over 87 Beatles-related CDs.

So fuck yes I like them.

I actually don't care for the Beatles. I don't think they suck, I just think that they're overrated. I respect their music but the fact that a person must like the Beatles just because everybody does just pisses me off. I respect them but their music just sounds like garbage to me.

There's a really great Beatles cover band starting up called the Hungry Vaginas. You should totally check it out!

I have a tremendous amount of respect for their music. Like Raxo said, they were pretty much the soundtrack to my childhood.

I like how varied their stuff is. I used to think it was a joke everyone was playing on me that; If I didn't know who sang it, everyone just said it was the Beatles. Turns out they actually did do a whole lot of different stuff. Also they can make a song that's overly fun without making you feel like a total girl.

I only really enjoyed a few songs by the Beatles. I wouldn't say I'd dislike them, but they're definitely not my favourite. I do find it a tad annoying how some people never shut up about them, but hey, if you like a band, you like a band a lot right?

The Beatles are the most over rated band in the history of music besides Led Zepplin. I'm not going to deny a lot of their stuff is good, but most of it is just decent to plain crappy (even though they have very little crappy music). It's the most cliche band to put as your #1 on your "top 5" bands of all time, and honestly they aren't all that. The only reason they're hailed as some kind of musical gods is because they influenced basically every band that came after them; which flabbergasts me because I can't hear an ounce of similarities between some of the bands they influenced and The Beatles themselves.

So I like them, I just think they are waaay the heck to over-rated.

I remember when I was little, my friend's dad played Maxwell's Silver Hammer for us and I've loved them ever since.

Alright, so I've been listening to Sgt. Peppers, and although I do like them a bit better, I'm still going to have to say they are a bit overrated.

Also, I hate people who think they're hippies because they listen to The Beatles.

Yeah man, you're so different for that I respect that, man. You don't have to like them, it's a shit load of people have a mutual love for them.

Exactly my thoughts, except I don't think their garbage. Their definitely listenable. I downloaded Sgt. Peppers so I could listen to a whole album instead of just shit everyone knows, and I was very impressed. I can see why people think they were ahead of their time.

I am of the opinion that no one can not like the Beatles.
I have literally grown up with their music, have more than one of their albums, and I find their lyrics and music intense and uplifting.
So yeah, I do.

Just because I don't like their sound doesn't mean that they suck. Probably the easiest concept to understand, but I guess that tells a lot about you if you can't comprehend that.

Sgt. Peppers was voted the #1 album of all time by rolling stone magazine (yeah I know, its a gay magazine, regardless,) I think even you're average teenage douchebag girl who's seen across the universe and has fallen in love with it(the most beatle bastardizing movie ever made) knows a couple of songs off the album.

EDIT: John Travolta you have failed to see your contradiction.

People can like something because it's popular, and they can also dislike something because its unpopular. But if its something truly worthy of praise, such as Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart's Band, it doesn't really matter whether you derive pleasure from it or whether you go with the crowd. It's still awesome.
E: If you think it sucks then you can feel free to write scathing reviews of it and post them on the internet. If the fans like it enough they won't care.

They're extremely boring. I don't dislike them but heck I deffinetly don't love them. I would also call them very overrated, I mean what's so special? It's more like the pop idols today. Maybe a lil more insane but still. There's alot more talented musicians from back then. Jimmy Hendrix, Rolling Stones etc... Would consider that alot better.
Conclusion: The Beatles is fucking boring.

You mention "overrated" as a characteristic of The Beatles, then go on to mention Hendrix as a comparison? I fucking love Jimi, but that was a god-awful statement to make.

He was just pointing out that Hendrix is every bit as overrated, if not more, than the Beatles.
Also, the Beatles are 'not so special'? I haven't seen a band yet that compares. There are plenty of good ones and great ones, but the Beatles have a catergory of their own.

Growing up when anyone ever mentioned The Beatles I was just one of those kids who thought they were gay but never really listened to them because I figured that all of their music would be like the song I Want To Hold Your Hand. At the time that was the only song I had heard by them. But now that I'm a bit older and more mature I listened to the album Abbey Road last December because a friend recommended it to me. I remember I couldn't believe how good they were and that I used to assume that they just sucked. I have all of their albums now and they are my second favorite band under Pink Floyd.

For coming out in the time they did, they were rated about right. Sure, people will cream all over them just like any band, but those are the fanatics. If they had come out today, they would be rated much lower. It's undeniable that they changed the face of music and pop culture, but that doesn't mean I like them. Also Fluzz, you're retarded.
