In celebration of C&C's 12th anniversary, EA is releasing the original game as a completely free download. They're providing the ISOs of both the GDI and Nod discs, so you need to either burn them to a CD or use a virtual drive in order to use them, but hey - it's free.

It's a pretty fun game. So, if you've never played it, or lost your discs, or just want something to download... enjoy.
PS: If you don't have a virtual drive, go google and download Daemon Tools.

I have been waiting for this day for years. The only problem is that there's no Mac download, which means I'll have to sneak this onto my parents' PC somehow.

I'm definitely all over this! Thank you Matt!!!
That's pretty sweet. If you guys like the C&C series, you should buy the First Decade dvd. It has all 12 games up to its release. (There's 13 now). I have it, its pretty god damned cool.
My mom works at EA, so I got the First Decade DVD and the newest one (C&C3: Tiberium Wars) pretty much free. Command & Conquer kicks ass.
Nice couchpotatoe. I've loved the C&C series since the original game. I didn't like the Generals games though. I thought that they didn't stick with the idea of C&C, and that it just wasn't a very good game. I haven't played C&C 3 yet though, hopefully it won't disappoint.

My brother bought that, it's definitely a great DVD.
This freeware version of C&C 95 is the one that was packaged with The First Decade.
Oh yeah, and that site hints at more "celebrations" of C&C, so they might have more freebies. Who knows?
Nice find Matt, I commend you. I have to buy a new copy of The First Decade though, I have stupid siblings.

Yeah, but I don't know of any decent free/inexpensive ones. Plus my Mac's getting kinda old, so emulation would run pretty slow.
The .iso files take forever to download over Wi-Fi. Oh well, it will definitely be worth the wait.

Ah C&C will always hold a special place in my heart. Now I wait until they release Red Alert for free.

EA has no right to give the original Westwoods game away. :argh:

This thing is a bitch to install.
Compatibility issue this, missing SETUP.INS file that. It's going to be worth it to play it in the end though.

This is for lightweight C&C Fan's only. Me? I have the First Decade (Which contain's the game mentioned, aswell as every single one and expansion pack up to Generals) and, just to top it off, C&C3 : Tiberium Wars for the Xbox 360, and Kane's Edition for the PC.

THAT pisses me off. I bought every single C&C game when it was release, expansions and all, for full price, and now they release them all in one package with a $30 price tag. GAY!
