This is probably one of my favorite bands to listen to, and my number 1 to see live.
They have so much energy, talent, and the crowds always fucking amazing.
Anybody else share my enthusiasm for this awesome band?
Or does anyone else know of any good bands like them?

Saw them live a good few years ago, supporting Sum 41 in Glasgow. They were playing to a massive crowd and it was amazing. Favourite Noise has been a regular on my playlist ever since.

Other ska bands I like include Rx Bandits who aren't quite as light-hearted as RBF and Less Than Jake who you'll probably already know.

I think that RBF's Our Live Album is Better Than Your Live Album is better than the rest of their albums. They have way more energy onstage.

They're a good fun band to just rock out to and not think. My theory is that if you don't like ska then you either haven't heard it before or you just don't like music.

2nd to Streetlight Manifesto, Reel Big Fish are definitely one of my favorite ska bands. I've seen them 3 times, and when you attend one of their shows, you just better be ready to expect the unexpected. They're touring with Streetlight Manifesto, but not coming down south to Texas. :frown:

Definitely one of my favorite bands in general. My favorite song by them would have to be "Beer." I've never seen them live. They came to my town earlier this year, but I wasn't able to go because I of university. I was bummed. My brother got to go and he said that it was one of the best concerts he had ever been to.

They are a really fun and nifty band. I have all their stuff and they were great live. One of the bands I can see myself still listening to 10 years from now.

I saw them completely by mistake when I was at the Extreme Games a few years ago, didn't realise they were playing. Beer is the greatest live song I have ever heard.

I actually just got turned on to The Rx Bandits. Those Damn Bandits is an awesome CD. Just extremely hard to find.

Beer is awesome, And I love their cover of Take On Me that they did for Baseketball. Has anyone ever seen them do the 10 or so covers of S.R.? Its the funniest shit live.

OP, check out 'Catch 22' as well. Particularly their first album "Keasbey Nights'.

Fuck yeah! I'm somewhat new.

Haha, yeah. If you can go to a Reel Big Fish show and NOT dance and/or jump around, there's definitely something the matter with you.

^ Agreed.

To be honest, i didn't even like RBF until i saw them live, with Guttermouth. I thought they were just a stupid band that made stupid songs like She Has A Girlfriend Now. Needless to say i was a tightass, and as soon as i saw them live i changed my attitude. They are an incredible band live. So much fun, and they know how to get the crowd going.
I saw them again with Streetlight Manifesto, and Less Than Jake, which was the best line up for a gig i've ever been to, but in my opinion they didn't play as well as they did when i saw them the year before.
Would love to see them again, though.

If you're looking for other ska, i've heard that Big D and the Kids, and Catch 22 are good. Sublime are an old favourite but i personally don't really like them. Skankin' Pickle is definately worth looking up. And if you don't know about Less Than Jake already, you're very, very sheltered.

I second Big D and The Kids Table, they are a lot more like RBF than other bands.

Fuck yeah for all the bands in this thread. Streetlight Manifesto, Catch 22, RX Bandits, RBF, BDATKT.

I used to be a massive listener of RBF. Now though, nah, they got old for me. Very fast.

I loves me some RBF. She Has a Girlfriend now is awesome live; if they're playing with other bands that have a female singer, they'll pull her up, otherwise they get someone from the crowd. It's hilarious. I'm not enough of a fan to buy all their albums, but I do have their Greatest Hits and their most recent album. Great stuff.

Yeah, You Don't Know an awesome fucking song, first song of theirs I'd ever heard.

I didn't even realize RBF was still around. I liked them quite a bit back in high school, but basically grew out of them. Might have to check them out again.

That's weird, about an hour ago I bought myself a ticket to their show in Leeds.

Went to see them in Newcastle last year with a friend and they were fantastic, is why we both bought tickets the second we heard they were touring again. Last time they were with Sonic Boom Six (I found them a little shouty) and Streetlight, who are awesome too. A must see live band for sure.

If you like RBF, you should also check out The Taj Motel Trio. Same style of upbeat, fun ska. Almost like a mix between RBF and Catch 22. Also, Mighty Mighty Bosstones. Gotta love 'em.

Everyone needs to listen to beer. All the time. Ever.

As much as I like RBF it is kind of sad that they tried to recreate the song with "Drinkin" off of We're not Happy 'Till You're Unhappy.

We're Not Happy Till You're Not Happy*

And yeah, they have pretty similar themes.

If I'm not mistaken, I think most albums, if not all of them, have a song with some sort of drinking reference as the main theme.

See that's what i love about reel big fish, they write about what's important.

Doesn't make them any less kickass, though.

Yeah I agree with pretty much everything in this thread, very awesome band. Favourite Noise would have to be my favourite of the albums. Though I'm yet to see them live.

Nothing better than RBF, The Cat Empire or Less Than Jake for a road trip to the beach.

A ska band I'm in is attempting to cover their cover version of Take On Me. What a badass cover of what once was a lameass song.

I can't decide who I like better: Streetlight or Reel Big Fish. Hmm...

I think they are a bit too different to really compare. The live shows, topic matter, and general vibe are polar opposites. That comparison comes down to what style do you prefer more than the bands themselves I think

This tour is coming to Cleveland 3 days before my birthday, and I'm pumped. Streetlight is my favorite ska band, but Reel Big Fish is definitely number 2, and not by much. They're music is just so fun and upbeat, it's impossible not to have a good time to.

I've just listenend to Beer for the first time, and I agree Quadros, its fucking awesome. Even better (and I thought I'd never say this) than their Take On Me cover.
