What songs do you like to play often. I like to play Bach's little fugue. Its a great song for a quartet.

I play the Little Wing intro every time I pick up my guitar. It's not only a warm-up, but also the greatest song ever so I'm pretty much obligated.

I play through Paranoid Android by Radiohead when I'm warming up, because it helps me with playing pretty much everything. It has chords, alternate picking, etc, and it's just goddamn fun to play. Also Under the Bridge by Chili Peppers.

Haydn's Symphony No. 94 in G is fucking intense on the triangle, man.

Seriously, I know I'm falling straight into your elitist, classically trained musician asshole trap, but what is a 'real' instrument, by your standards?

Chrisso

Any instrument but Guitar Hero. If you wanna call it elitist, go ahead.

I play Beethoven's third on my kazoo. It's more of a relaxation thing.

On my classical guitar, I play all sorts of classical music, concentrating on renaissance music, because it's just so damn happy and fun. All classical guitarplayers here, try something from the composer John Dowland. He's made a lot of great galliards.

On my electric guitar, I play Wish You Were Here, by Pink Floyd. Also Stairway To Heaven and Comfortably Numb.

On bass guitar, I tend to start playing either Prison Song by System of a Down, or more commonly, I start playing Seemann by Rammstein. Fun songs I like to play in general: if not SOAD, then Mastodon. The bassline to Naked Burn is fucking fun.

On guitar I usually play Nothing Else Matters or Fade to Black by Metallica. Sometimes Zee Deveel by Incubus as well.

On bass, Demonic Possession by Bigamy is always the first song I play. The bridge has a killer bass line.

I play TNT By AC/DC or maybe Death on the Stairs by the Libertines. It's fun to play and tricky.

I like a lot of the stuff by Andy Mckee. I'm no where CLOSE to that caliber, but I can play those decently. Usually without the percussions he throws in.

I've recently got urges to play Shine With Me by POD whenever I pick up the guitar, I find it such a beautiful song and its so easy but gets me warmed up.

My sax quartet's signature song is "Mississippi Rag" by W.H. Krell. Catchy as fuck.

I like to start off with something nice and bluesy, and then just improvise from there. Really relaxing.

Edit: Piano, by the way.

I like to play Under the Bridge by Red Hot Chili Peppers to warm up or when I'm bored.
For some extra feel, I improvise as best as I can.

When I'm jamming with a friend we try to improvise over SRV's Lenny.

Well classical wise, I love anything by Elliot Del Borgo.

Modern wise, anything by Feist is pretty cool to play.
and anything by Primus is extremely amazing.

I play the piano. To warm up, I like Chopin's "Raindrop" Prelude or just major and minor arpeggios, and my favorite song to play is Solfegietto by Carl Emmanuel Bach. Moonlight Sonata is always fun, too, and pretty much any Broadway, especially Phantom of the Opera. I try to always play original compositions. Right now I'm working on Maleguena, which is extremely hard, but it's coming along. I try to play everything that I can from memory.

Pretty much every time I pick up my guitar I play this string skipping lick Paul starts at about 58 seconds:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vJUvecTTR0

The I play the string skipping outro to the song Scarified. Those two things really wake my fingers up. Once I start hitting them both clean I know I'm warmed up.

as far as songs go I play Curse of Castle Dragon and Norwegian Cowbell a lot.

I have been playing classical piano for many years so naturally when I play my piano, I soon quit and start masturbating because knowing how to play piano will never get me any tail.

As a piano player, I will gladly give my tail to a good piano player, providing he has a penis and isn't gay.

Me and my band is in the process of making our first album so naturally I play stuff that I come up with myself. I like experimenting with my instrument and sometimes when I find some cool lick or progression I add it to my mind list and maybe even to a song if I make one. I used to play scales and try to go faster and faster though, and I still do, just not quite as much.

On my acoustic, I'm currently playing(and singing) Hide Your Love Away by The Beatles.

As for Electric, I usually just play some jazz chords and improvise accordingly. Either that or some blues, but I play mostly acoustic.

And for bass, I like playing Portrait of Tracy by Jaco Pastorious as well as just slap/pop funk improv, as well as some good ol' jazz lines.

I have been singing a lot of Ozzy and Sabbath. I have also been singing all of Death Magnetic by Metallica and Children of the Damned by Iron Maiden

I have a tendancy to tap around my drum kit every now and again, and when I do, I really like to play things fast, and fun. My favourite moments are when I finally get that one tough song or pattern, nail it perfectly... and then I can put my sticks down and walk away with a big grin on my face knowing I accomplished something good.

my faveourite song right now is probibly Map of the Problematique by Muse. its just a ton of fun to play. Not terribly hard, but just fun in general. In terms of challenge, a lot of The Who is what I'm currently working on.

I always warm up the same way, no matter what I'm playing, Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, and Smoke on the Water.

What songs do you like to play often. I like to play Bach's little fugue. Its a great song for a quartet.

Two years ago in band, we played the finale to The Mask of Zorro. It was intense for every instrument, including me on tuba. I don't feel like I should ever have to play long sixteenth note runs. Ever. But I love to play it randomly whenever I have my tuba out, now that I can play it right.

Also, on my guitar or cello I love playing Dueling Banjos. It sounds really funny on cello, for apparent reasons. I can't play far past the introduction on either instrument, but maybe one day I'll be able to.

It gladdens me to see that this thread isn't 90% full of guitar, by the way.

Bohemian Rhapsody with guitar.

It was fucking hard to learn so maybe thats why I like it

I play little bumbling "riffs" on my tuba whenever I have to carry it anywhere or I'm sitting idle with it, something that is intended to remind you of a comically fat man walking.

On the trumpet, I play the first few bars of "La Cucaracha" to annoy people around me.

On the violin, I play this small section from Vivaldi's four seasons, summer idyll, movement 3. Go listen to it, it sounds epic on two guitars or in a string ensemble.

To warm up i play "Arpeggios From Hell" by Yngwei Malmsteem. Helps me speed up and stretch my fingers.

I like to relax by laying down a nice jazz track on Garageband with my Sax, then I pick up my guitar and play over my saxes tune.

On bass; I usually play random Tool songs. From then on I just improvise. Disposition is the most fun simply because of the pitch shifting pedal i have. I've also been recently attempting the saxophone part in Frank Zappa's Apostrophe'. Real tough one to pick up.

On my guitar; (note: I suck.) I've been replaying the slow solo of Master of Puppets just out of fun. But the most fun thing to do is to downtune your guitar an octave or two, turn EVERYTHING (amp, pedals, volume, gain) all the way up and just go all out Doom Drone. Man, if I only had recording equipment...

I love to play master of puppets on the drums, its quite an easy song but fast with lots of changes, pretty basic changes IMO but regular and fairly fast. It feels good to play and its a good one to impress people!

Shine On You Crazy Diamond with my Strat, Wish You Were Here with my crappy acoustic guitar.
