View Full Version : Election Night Discussion
Don't argue in this thread. We have two other threads for that.
Just discuss results as they come in, and speculate about how the night will unfold. Keep political issues out of here, it's too late to win anyone over so don't waste your breath. Just sit back and enjoy the ride.
First polls coming in (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3032553/): 6 in 10 voters say economy is their #1 issue, which is probably good for Obama.

polls from various websites to keep you updated on results as they come in.
Tight numbers on the popular vote.
Early polls are showing Obama leads in Pennsylvania, Ohio and Florida, all three of the swing states he would need to virtually guarantee a win. This could be an early night.
edit: from that site anyway. I'm not sure if it means anything
I found it odd how close Indiana was and how much McCain trampled Obama in Kentucky, eh?
If Obama wins Indiana I would say this election is over.
The polls from before the election showed that McCain had the slightest edge in Indiana, 1.4, but it still might go Obama.
So far it's indicating the way I saw it happening, an electoral landslide.
CNN has some incredible live statistical analysis. They compare each state's results by demographic and make connections to the '04 election.
No movie has glued me to my seat this well.

KY is projected to go McCain, to no big surprise, but what surprised me was the CLOSENESS of it. Yes, closeness is a word.
Closeness in Kentucky is an incredible thing for Obama.

Ketucky and Vermont were secure. They're not exciting.
Indiana is closer than I expected. I guess it depends on what polls are coming in.
Watch Georgia, Virginia, and North Carolina. Now polls show McCain trampling Virginia by 10%, but only with 1% of polls reporting, probably rural ones.
