I don't want to sound too much like a newb but what is a lighthouse? And why is it different to the general forum?

Lighthouse discussion is a forum dedicated to the elitist nature of explosm. Those of us not cool enough to be elite but cooler than everyone else hang out there writing quasi-humourous nonsense and turning on anyone new and/or unwelcome WITH THE BURNING RAGE OF A THOUSAND SUNS.
Also a lighthouse is a tall building with a floodlight at the top used to warn ships sailing in inclement weather of the hazards of reefs and cliffs in the vicinity. If you didn't know that you're a fucking retard.

With the burning rage of a thousand suns, eh? Sounds pretty horrific, yet interesting. And isn't this whole board filled with quasi-humourous nonsense? At least that's the general idea I was getting.
And finally, a thousand thank you's for defining what the fuck a light house is. I feel as though my life is complete now that you have told me they warn sailors of inclement weather and other hazards. Geez, you learn something new everyday I suppose.

It's a place for new members to try their hand at being funny, only to realise that in fact they are nerds, and nobody cares what they have to say anymore.

This still does not explain how you would decide whether a thread goes in one or the other.
If you really can't see the difference, you probably shouldn't post in either

The easiest thing for you to do would be to just never make threads.

Lighthouse Discussion is where morals and virtues go to die.
I'd have to steal a line from 4chan: "Lurk moar". You can easily spot the difference in threads.

Lighthouse is like general forum, but it got anally raped.
One has black text on a white background, the other has white text on a black background.

Stuff pertaining to lighthouses would obviously go in the lighthouse forum. Obviously.
There's only so much you can discuss about lighthouses.
These guys are just being sarcastic assholes. Don't listen to any of them, really. They're trying to make you look stupid.
The Lighthouse forum was originally the Relationship and Dating forum, but it was changed by the Admin to confuse new posters such as yourself. To put it blandly, the Lighthouse discussion is this forum's LiveJournal. I recommend using it as such, otherwise you may be laughed at.

A lighthouse is a tower, building, or framework designed to emit light from a system of lamps and lenses or, in older times, from a fire and used as an aid to navigation and to pilots at sea.

America has a history set against a context of slavery and racial segregation, but is populated mostly by white people. Africa is populated mostly by black people but has a history based around imperialism by predominantly white Europe. so the text, i.e. the actions on the forum equate to the contemporary society, where as the background, i.e. the website, represent the basis and founding of those actions.
SEE HOW FUNNY HISTORY CAN BE???

that's why I said 'So spame is like Explosm's Africa?' instead of 'America has a history set against a context of slavery and racial segregation, but is populated mostly by white people. Africa is populated mostly by black people but has a history based around imperialism by predominantly white Europe. so the text, i.e. the actions on the forum equate to the contemporary society, where as the background, i.e. the website, represent the basis and founding of those actions.'

I'm pretty sure the sadder it is the funnier it is, and since it's the only kind of humour the British can do, I'd know.
