It's a bit of a push on these music forums, because I'm talking about a musical instrument without ANY STRINGS AT ALL!
But does anyone else go weak at the knees at the sight of these babies?

I've been able to use a pair of CDJ-1000s once, and I use 800 all the time. I wish I could afford a pair. And a Kaoss Pad. And then make sweet music all night long.

Vinyl saves. That's all I'm gonna say.

Eh, I feel like Serato has made CDJs kind of obsolete. It's pointless to go digital only when you can go digital + analogue with similar gear.

Also, I think some of the newer generations of midi controllers will blow CDJs out of the water.

I agree with Alcoholic, vinyl will always be the best for music, and it is much more flexible regarding the things you can do with it.

I'd argue that vinyl is way way less flexible than digital. It takes so long to get a dubplate made these days. The ability to make a remix or an edit and play it out the same night is simply amazing.

The cd ones are only good when you're drunk. And you spin it and yell out "woo it's spinning". And then everyone gets upset at you for ruining the music. See if you did that with a vinyl, you'd pretty much fuck up the vinyl.

If I were android, I'd fucking ban bayview for calling me Alco xD

And indeed, vinyl IS awesome, but DJing with vinyl is so much effort if you want to anything more than play two similar sounding songs into eachother, or lay down some funky beat and scratch over the top.

If you wanna drop little bits of songs into eachother, loop them, add effects and double the beats to screw everyone's brain, you either have to be Felix da Housecat, or in possession of some sweet-ass CDJ's.

As for:

You speak too soon my friend. Serato have now paired up with pioneer, making their new software work WITH the CDJ's, which is awesome because it means more flexibility all round.

Except for when you want to play a record.

Very true, but the only things that I have on vinyl that I don't also posses in digital format are recordings of very old performances of Prokofiev concertos that I found in my granddad's attic. And it's a given that anywhere were you will ever do a DJ set will always have a pair of technics kicking around if you must play something on vinyl.
