If you haven't heard on the news or not from the UK, educate yourselves. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baby_P)
Baby P died at 17 months, abused to no end by his stepdad, a satanist and his mother. From dropping him on his head, to sicking his dog on him, to pushing his hand on his throat to see how blue he would get, Baby P suffered 8 injured ribs, bruises on his head. He even swallowed one of his teeth. When he wasn't being tortured, he was neglected in his own room nearly all day to lie in his own filth. He was even paralysed from the waist down as his stepdad snapped his spine.
What was most disgraceful about all this was Child Support workers and Paediatricians didn't have a clue what was really going on. They believed all the far fetched stories the mother made (it was 'an accident'). On his last visit before his death, his mother smeared melted chocolate over his face to cover his bruises. And the worst thing was she got away with it!
They can't even name the benefit scrounging scumbags who left their house a shithole and smoked cannabis all day for legal reasons. They also say noone's gonna lose their jobs over this. Heh.

Edit: I might contribute now that my intial shock reaction is over. Who the fuck do these people think they are? Sure they're Baby Ps parents but when did that ever give anyone the right to torture their children. Snapping his spine? Holy fuck. That's the single most horrific thing i've ever heard of someone doing to their child. Sure my dad might have given me a smack on the ass when i screwed up when i was younger, but nothing warranting a snapped fucking spine. How dare they?
And how dare that bitch on the video say oh we're sooo sorry when after 60 visits, they still did nothing about the abuse that was going on. 60 VISITS! Fuck, forget the neglect of the child for a second, how about these people neglecting to do their jobs properly!
This is fucking horrible. I'm so disgusted right now i actually feel ill. How could you even do this to a child? To your own child? Was hearing Baby P scream, and cry, in pain not an indictation that beating the shit out of him wasn't something he enjoyed?
Ergh. I'm so repulsed. I stand by my first comment. They deserve to die.

Nobody is going to say this situation is a good one, or that the parents are in any way absolved of guilt. What's there to discuss?

I think this was a pretty good situation. You never know what 17 month old children are capable of. The baby probably did it himself and blamed the parents, and I think they should be absolved of all guilt!

You seem to imply that they thought they had a sense of entitlement, that is, they were in a rational frame of mind where they thought it appropriate to do bad things to their child.
I would assume their thought would not have been thinking rationally at all. Demons in the heat oppressed brain and all.

Why? That's quick and easy. Bear in mind that most criminals are still loving parents who miss their kids like crazy, now they hear about some abusive scumbag is coming to live with them. They'll be in among the peado's and the other child murders fearing for their lives every time they drop a bar of soap in the shower. And the best thing is is that the police and prison wardens will turn a blind eye because no one gives a fuck about the safety of a child killer.
Well if we are going to have a discussion about this can we not get murderous?

I thought I'd edit this so it's a bit less provocative.
The fact is, all we know is what happens at the hospital. Nobody says the things that happened to the kid were good (well, most), but we don't know the extenuating circumstances - with the court supressing names and whatnot, I think the likelihood is that whatever happened won't come to hand until trial.

That's pretty sick stuff. what the fuck is wrong with the people in this world these day's.
in all fareness i don't mean everyone but there are some pretty twisted people. that kid was not even a year old you say. ouchies............ i hope that step dad gets his fingures shoved up his ass and a foot down his throat whilst he is in prison if he gets there. how did the child services not know is beyond all recogniton.

For once im going to agree with a comment like that.
If the people are so low as to Beat there child and lie about it or not even seek help for what they were encountering which im going to label it as anger issue's (general anger issue's lead to violence) then they do not deserve to even be acknowledged. Best just to ignore them

If this happened in my court, I'd sentence each one of them to 40 years of Um-Bongo (40 years of daily anal gang rape). After that they'll be simply dragged out and shot. Rough justice is always the right kinda justice.

i disagree with the whole "5 years in prison" as punishment.
they should get something equal or worse then the crime they commited. that would be a better way then a slap on the wrist and a few words with a few years in confind space

Just to clear things up the baby's father wasn't involved.
Also, as well as social workers the baby was brought to a doctor shortly before he died who failed to notice that he was paralyzed and had broken ribs. How the hell does that happen?

I'm not upset by it im mearly stating that something should have been done.

I would agree with this statement if the person in question was not a 9 month old baby being abused by three adults. It's not hypocritical to want to punish someone for abusing those incapable of defending themselves.

Not hypocritical at all actually. If we were abusing and harming another innocent toddler in retaliation, that would be hypocritical. However, these people are not innocent.
