Trailer (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rQ_uc1me9NU&NR=1)
I think this doesn't look as cheesy as it could be, was something I was nervous about, having been (and still being) a fan of the game series.
Thoughts on this/previous movies?

The first one was OK, didn't bother watching Apocalypse because I've heard how bad it was. I'm gonna skip this one too because Milia Johovich has been a losing streak lately with being in good films.

The original was ok, the last one was pretty bad, but I plan on seeing this one if for no other reason that just to see how they finish the trilogy.
I will rent it though, because it does not look good enough to pay the money to see in a theater.

I've a friend who works at Sony. She's seen Sin City 2 and this, both still far from the final cut. She says both are fucking awesome. More/better boobs on Sin City 2 though, according to her.
EDIT> Looks like Mad Max to me.

No she didn't.
She totally didn't. Sin City isn't even owned by Sony. Although there's been some talk recently of a Sin City 2 teaser, the movie's still in pre-production.
Also, why would she see RE:E far from the final cut. It'd have to be in its final cut by now.
I think it'll be cool. So far it doesn't seem like it strays too far off from RE5 for the 360 and PS3.

It looks ok. I saw the trailer in theaters. 1 and 2 weren't very good.

You might be right. I'll check if this bitch is lying by squeezing her for information.

I may see it after it comes out on video. Not worth the theater.

Definitely not worth theaters. I kind of wished it stayed more along the lines of the games because it seems that they've just been in the same universe, but nothing else has been similar.
I guess Shmuh already said that, but hey we agree so... yah.
JEsus I really didn't add ANYTHING to the conversation there did I?

its weird that people rate a movie right after seeing a trailer.
i think it might be okay, its not like the trilogy was epic anyways, but i just wanna see it cuz im a fan of anything zombie related.

I took another peak at the trailer, and by the looks of things, it appears Uwe Boll had his hand in directing this one.

Wait, wait, wait. Are you serious? Because if it is, I'll have to tell everyone I know not to watch the movie. I'd rather poke at my eyeballs with a needle than watch a Uwe Boll movie. It's equivalent to slow torture.
Assuming that Boll has no hand in this, I think it looks alright. The first was okay (not enough gore though), and the second was worse. Hopefully this will at least be worth $10.

Apocalypse was cheezy, I just watched it because of the soundtrack.
Hopefully this version would be better though.

He didn't actually direct it or had any part of it, but I couldn't shake that feeling this reminded me of House of the Dead.

Meh, after the crapfest that was the second movie, I'm not too excited about this'n. I'll probably still see it because it's a zombie movie and I'm a sucker for brain-eaters.

Although I have to thank the directors of the first two movies for ruining the game series, I'll make sure to rent this one afterwards. The day they make a movie based on a video game that doesn't cause me to cry myself into the fetal position for an hour is the day I'll be sure that I could die a happy man.

The movies have next to nothing to do with the games. Even if you change the names of everything (and got rid of the Nemesis and the Licker) you'd have an action-horror movie about zombies. Action being the predominatory of the two. Seriously. Alice isn't a character in the Resident Evil universe, Resident Evil is an excuse for Anderson's movie about Alice. Absolute shit.

Wait, what? Strays to far from RE5...? Because it's sunny and there's sand?! Please, tell me that statement is satire? Apocalypse is it's own movie. A movie that stole character names and a corporation name from the most fantastic survival horror game known to video games! No, I haven't seen the third one, but based on the track record of the first two and what I have seen of the third one. Yes, I'm going to watch this movie so I can have an educated opinion, but this bitch is getting pirated. I never should have payed to watch the second one...

Although the movies have screwed the games originality up six ways from Sunday, they are very enjoyable movies, for those who are not gamers. Personally I love all the games, and I spent half of my teen years playing those games, but the movies are kick ass. Of course, the movies have been altered. But hell its Hollywood. Did you expect anything less of them?

Before I say anything else I'll say I haven't played the games.
I loved the first movie. Didn't like the second one because they made the first one on a relatively low budget, got a bigger, fatter one for the sequel, and seemed to be content with making big piles of special effects (and because of that, big piles of bad movie). My goodness this third one looks cool, though. I'm glad they've brought back big crowds of zombies, as opposed to the second movie's few zombies, couple of Lickers and a Nemesis. Though I didn't get that bit at the start with the machine gun mine. I'm definitely seeing this in the cinema.

As long as they keep the soundtrack I'll be moderately happy. Was watching the first film recently, was waiting for the badass invisible fucker from RE4 to jump out and start eating my face.
Suspense music and evil zombie/virus creatures. Good combination.
PS: Is 10 bucks for a movie ticket really so much?

Charile Clouser did the soundtrack for Extinction, so the soundtrack is a guaranteed hit. Wouldn't say that for the movie itself though.
PS: That's actually cheap considering that they're gonna up the prices to around $11.50 to $12 by next year.

This may be going slightly off topic. But it goes to the first movie. Has anyone else read the copy penned by George A. Romero? Apparently, the powers at be rejected it. Had most of the characters from the first game, too. And as far as I can remember (I read it before the first movie even came out) it didn't stary too far from the story, at least in relation to the first movie. Though, Redfield wasn't a STARS members, as he is just STARS member Jill's beau.
And here's a link to it...

Speaking of which, Romero directed a Japanese-only commercial for RE2.

Yeah, I saw that. Looked helluva lot better than the first movie as a matter of fact.
