It's a shame the beer thing is so noisy. Really cool thing, anyhow.
That floating bed kicks ass, although it's just a floating slab of metal. As the website says, it could be used for lots of different stuff. Do want.

That beer launcher is the coolest thing I've seen in ages. I want one. NOW!

I'm not so much looking forward to the floating bed as I am to the technology of it, as Materialize suggested. This could be a very good step towards the science fiction anti gravity. It reminds me of an antigrav board that I saw on some telvision show, where they used friction to levitate a large metal board a few inches above ground and a person could stand on it and use remote controls to move it, albeit slowly. I'm looking forward to what can come in the future, even if it costs millions.

it's got enough magnets to keep 900 kilograms
Talk about overkill.
Oh and gimme 2 of the beer throwing thingye.
EDIT: PFFFT 10 beer magazine? What the fuck? I need at least 50 to make this worth it.

Magnetic Floating Bed
Article:
So its magnetic right? And a powerful one at that! so my cover has metal in the buttons, i could not take my phone anywhere near it, i could not take a remote near it, i could not take TV, Lamps, or anything metal near for fear of it being stuck down or breaking! And yet no one has thought of this small bug?

Apparently they use "a combination of steel plates and air" to dampen the magnetic field where it's not needed - i.e. on top of the mattress.

So if you flip the magnetic bed updise down, will it smash to the ground at mach3?
I loved it until I read "It's suspended by thethers.
I've seen the beer thing ages ago, but that Mule looks like crazy Command&Conquer technology.
You DO know magnets don't affect all metals, right?
ArKaiN

The affect any ferrous metal and fuck up a bunch of circuitry.
Make way for amazing inventions of the 21st century.

That reminds me. No more using the laptop to look at porn while laying on your bed. :( Going to have to resort to those magazines.

I want all of that stuff SO badly. Especially the beer launcher thing. The bed would be an awesomely cool thing to show off to my friends, but even if I had 1.2 million, or whatever it costs if I said how much it costs to them they would call me an arrogant snob and would hate me for it. I'd buy it for 50$ though.

Now all that's needed is a beer-launching floating refridgerator.

The bed is awesome and artsy looking. I couldn't have it just because sensitive equipment and magnets don't get along well, but it's way cooler than a beer launcher.

wow.... I definately want the first 3, but the mule thing looks a LOT like a radio with things strapped onto the end.
I want all of those. They should make the beer thrower with a bigger magazine. Also lower the damn price of that bed!!!

I saw a video of the beer launcher a while ago. With accuracy like that, it definatly has to be patented, and sold to the public. For sure.

awesome. 5 stars
i would like to see scientists try to deplete pollution, make a new type of power to fuel cars and homes, global warming factors etc. etc. then a floating bed though. were going to run out of natural resources sooner than we think when China starts to build into a country like america. if we use around 30% of all natural resources they would be using like 60%, no?

No, 90%, meaning collectively we'd use 120%.

The floating bed is based on the technology of the bullet trains of Japan, so it's not like finding a new fuel source cost wise.
Also get out Al Gore, you're not fooling anyone.

Why can't anyone make anything cool?
There ARE scientists working on pollution, especially in areas that have a market for it. There are some working on terminal illnesses, too; but you can't expect all progress for all of the world to be stopped until they finish, if they even can.
Article you want to share? Link to them! Don't just copy/paste them, dummy.
Nice job on the thread title too.

True, but maybe it would have been better not to wait a year and a half after the thread was dead and forgotten to point it out

I'm not seeing a link to the floating bed or to the "mule" thing you guys are talking about?
Edit: Damn, just realized how old this thread is. That could be why the links are gone now.

By the way, you can use all normal electronic equipment on that magnetic bed, magnetic hard drives might corrupt if you put them under the bed, though.

I find it funny that when this was created there was no worries about the money being spent on these inventions and there was no obvious public sign of an oncoming recession. And now we're here. When I posted in it over a year ago things were really different.
That, and I still had long hair.
