It's really good. Is this from the Castle series?

I'm a little more finicky with my critiques, but I mean these all as constructive.

His head is a little small for his body. It's also lopsided, but I don't know if that's intentional or not. I don't know what the Castle series is.

His hand is also a little small. It also looks off in its shape.

His left pant leg (the viewer's right) should drape over his shoe a little more. The way it's drawn now makes it look like the pant bottom is cut in a curve that goes up. Because of the perspective of the foot, the highest part of the bottom of the pants should be at the profile of the foot (where the highest part of the foot is), a little more to the viewer's right.

The angle of light source for the shading/highlights on the shoes doesn't match the rest of the shading/highlights.

Overall, it is a very nice picture. It has very smooth shading. I just figure that if you post up a picture and ask what people thing, you want some constructive criticism along with all the compliments.

Lynley just said what I was going to really. About the head being lopsided. His beret looks abit too stiff for my liking etc. But I still think it's a fantastic drawing. The shading is really nice.

Do you have any others to show? :)

Thanks a bunch folks <3

Lynley's post

I agree with everything. And yes, I do want all the constructive criticism I can get. Thanks for reviewing it.

I've posted a few in this forum some time ago. It will probably be easier just going to http://deletionquality.net/art.php to check it all out :)

Outstanding :fmita:

I do think his hand's too small. Also, his right foot (The on that's facing forward) should be a bit less rounded on the bottom. Right now it looks like it's pointing down. If you made it a bit squarer it might look more like it's planted on the floor.

I didn't think his head was lopsided, but I think his legs are skewed to the right slightly. I wish he was in more of a dynamic position aswell, like even if he is a general. I thought the shading was spot on, but I'm no artist guy.

I won't lie, I really don't like the face. It doesn't look very good. Maybe it's just a matter of needing to be re-drawn, but it doesn't look proportionate/life-like.

Also, the life side of the hat is a bit too big.

Besides that it's really good.

Hundreds upon millions of times better than anything I could ever hope to produce. All in all, a fantastic drawing.

On the constructive criticism side, I agree I_Smell with the right foot being too rounded, and I don't know if it's just my dodgy eyesight, but the left foot almost looks as if he's putting more of his weight on the outside of the foot, rather than it being central. Like I say though, that could just be me. Still though, excellent picture.

The pants are a bit plain. Don't generals usually have some sort of cool flashy belt or something like that?
Anyway, they're very smoothly shaded, but sometimes that's bad when you're shading something like fabric, which usually has a bit of texture to it. Also, it looks like the seam on the viewer's right leg goes onto the front of his pants. I know that's not how you meant it, it's just shading and not actually a seam, but that's how it looks to me. I guess that's something you could add to the pants to make them less plain, seams or buttons or something.
From the waist up it's great though, I like the face and shoulders the best.

Check the Castle series and you'll know.
