Ever since a friend brought Disgaea 2 for the PS2 to my place, We've both been in love with the game. It's a long time ago, and I know a sequel has been made, but it's limited to the PS3 only, and I got an Xbox 360.

Any games that are similair to Disgaea for the Xbox?

Basically, any turn based somewhat funny Japanese style TRPG for the Xbox 360.

I heard about Eternal Sonata, but I'm not too sure about it. Anyone recommend buying it?

I'm pretty sure Eternal Sonata is a normal JRPG, and not a SRPG.

Well, I don't know the difference in those. I just read the genre on wikipedia.

(Hint: This is me wanting someone to explain the difference)

You can have a stab at Final Fantasy Tactics, if you got a console for it.

Can't think of any SRPG's on the 360 at all.

For RPGs in general, Mass Effect and Oblivion are a must. I can also recommend Eternal Sonata.

FYI I hated both Mass Effect and Oblivion, and I know all the insanse mainstream games. It's the japanese styled games I'm looking for.

JRPGs are just japanese RPGs, where as SRPGs are Strategic RPGs (and I assume your TRPGs are Tactical RPGs..? Which means the same as SRPGs)

Most SRPGs these days are also JRPGs.

Get a DS, get FFTA2: Grimoire of the Rift. I know you're looking for a console game, but it actually is really good, if you can get it.

If you're looking for something that matches the humor of Disgaea as well as the gameplay... then as far as i know.. you're out of luck unless you get a ps3, or play the old ones. as for a game that plays similarly... FFT: The war of the lions, for PSP, and as Benjaman said... FFTA2: Grimoire of the Rift for DS, also there's Fire emblem... all of them. Fire emblem doesn't have the depth with skills and abilities as much but is still a great series.

Phantom Brave and La Pucelle : Tactics are both from the same producer, and both games are pretty much like Disgaea. Those games are for PS2. They've released Disgaea DS, which is a remake of another Disgaea, probably the first, but I'm not 100% certain. I think there's also another one on PSP.

If you want to look it up, search for games by Nippon Ichi.

As for Xbox, as far as I know, there aren't much games like Disgaea. Some good RPGs, but no Tactical RPGs.

I'm pretty sure that there is a Tales game for the xbox... Tales of Vesperia? I think thats it. Anyways, the Tales games are pretty famous for having Japanese humour like that, its a little corny/cute but they're amazing games nonetheless. I haven't played Vesperia so I can't say much about it though.

Tales of Vesperia is awesome, but it's not Turn-Based and doesn't require much strategy. So it's not like Disgaea.

Final Fantasy Tactics, any one of of them. The same style of gameplay, but doesn't really have the humor you are looking for. If you have a PSP they have a Disgaea game for it. The PSP also has Jeanne D'arc, which is a great tactics type game.

It's not an option to get it on anything but the Xbox. I'll be playing the game with a friend, and it would ruin the fun t look on a small PSP etc. (and my PS2 is broken).

It sucks about Disgaea, because it's some of the most fun I've had in a game. I'll take a closer look at the Tales game, and from what I've seen, I'll definately pick it up if I see it for a low price.

My friend bought Eternal Sonata, so I'll probably be busy playing that anyway though.

A good thing about that Tales game is that most Tales games are multi-player. I'm not sure about Tales of Vesperia, but I bet it is. Let me know if you like it!

Tales of Vesperia can indeed be played with up to 4 players. I'd suggest not playing with more than 3 though, as playing the healer can be pretty damn hard in some boss fights.

Well, for the humor aspect, check out Lost Odyssey, on the 360. It's pretty much a regular JRPG with a pretty good story and great humor and character development. I would definitely recommend it, although it is pretty huge. Takes 4 disks.

Handheld disgaea's are bad... bad bad bad.... Disgaea 3 is epic... just incase anyone wanted to know that though.

Tactics Ogre for the PS1. Good luck finding it, but it's the best tactical RPG out there.

id just get Disgaea: Hour of Darkness for DS, La Pucelle, or if you want to try something new, Valkyria Chronicles. My friend says its really good apparently.

@ renegadeex

Valkyria Chronicles is a really great game, but unfortunately, it is not on the Xbox 360, which is what Cyan wants.

Yea, it sucks that all of the games being mentioned is not for the Xbox. I'm so jealous of people with a PS3 now >:(

Anyway, I tried Eternal Sonata for an hour, and so far it seems pretty good. I still miss Disgaea though, but hopefully it'll get more interesting the longer I play it.

Eternal Sonata's story is trippy as hell, but definitly worth the playthrough. There will be times when you think "what the hell is going on?" but then at the end, you'll look back and think "there is no other way they could have done what they did, and have it come together so cleanly..." or.... that's what my friends and I think after beating it.
