Rockstar Games -- Max Payne 3 (http://www.rockstargames.com/maxpayne3)

Rockstar Games has confirmed that Max Payne 3 is currently in development and scheduled for a Winter 2009 release on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC.

"Developed by Rockstar Vancouver, Max Payne 3 tells the story of a retired police detective embroiled in a world of corruption, turmoil and intense violence," is the first info we've received.

If you're new to the world of Payne, the game puts you in the role of Max Payne, a hard-boiled New York City detective with a penchant for violence, out to avenge the death of his family. "The latest installment delivers more of the classic elements and hyper-intense action that fans have come to love, while moving the story of Max in a new direction," Rockstar adds.

"We're starting a new chapter of Max's life with this game," said Sam Houser, founder of Rockstar Games. "This is Max as we've never seen him before, a few years older, more world-weary and cynical than ever. We experience the downward spiral of his life after the events of Max Payne 2 and witness his last chance for salvation."

The release continues: "Since leaving the NYPD and New York itself behind, Max has drifted from bad to worse. Double-crossed and a long way from home, Max is now trapped in a city full of violence and bloodshed, using his weapons and instincts in a desperate search for the truth and a way out."

I never let shitty movies deface what I think of games. I still love Doom and Resident Evil, and I still love the Max Payne series.

Good point. But in all seriousness, the Max Payne movie was pretty terrible. Anyways, I think with a next gen system, rockstar has the potential to really create a great addition to the series.

Oh man oh man oh man oh man are you fucking serious?

Fucking finally :']

Max Payne was the first game I got for Xbox and I've loved it ever since. I'm fucking excited for this.

Reminds me of this. I remember seeing this nearly 10 years ago and prematurely ejaculating in my pants.

*nostalgic chill down the spine*

This will be great. If the older ones were bloody and mature in a world where they rarely swore in games, the maturity level for this will be off the hook.

I just hope it isn't over the top. Too much swearing gets kind of old.

Isn't this made by different people?

Oh well Rockstar is still pretty good at making games like this. I really loved the first game, I still have to beat the 2nd. I hope they still keep the noir and pulp style in, and not just replaced with GRITTYASFUCK.

Rockstar did the PS2 and Xbox ports of Max Payne 1, and they RELEASED Max Payne 2, though they didn't help create it in any way.

It'll be really awesome to see what Rockstar can bring to the table with this.
