Let us continue the discussion!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9r4v-zSBvZ0 - trailer 1
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PTUPx4ZefdU - trailer 2
And if someone could find it, I'd appreciate a GTA IV factsheet for this thread.
So what are your thoughts/expectations?

This is just one more reason for me to think about buying a 360. It looks like Rockstar Games has really upped their graphics for the next gen systems.

I don't think there's anywhere left for this discussion to go until the game comes out.

If its anything as good as Bully or San Andreas it will kick ass!

Grand Theft Auto : IV is gonna be sucessful, very sucessful. But what I don't get is that Grand Theft Auto : IV is 4th? What happend to Vice City and San Andreas, and the Stories?
Other than that unrelated rant, I just hope there are some new features. I would love to go on the building's rooftop and snipe out some pimp or guy that owes money. Alot of my friends are not expecting the best. A bit of improved graphics, and a few new features that all. Other than that its a game that you can probably beat in a day or two.

It doesn't mean that its 4th. Its the name of the game. GTA1,2,3 and then theres vice city and san andreas. Now as you can see there hasnt yet been a number 4, so they name the new gta 4.

The producers have stated that all the games between III and IV are "spin-offs",
which is all right since they really just put the same game in different settings (not that I didn't love every single one of them).
I hope that IV is gonna be released for PC soon after the PS3 release, not like a year later like all the other parts.

Yeah, within the GTA universe there are different stories.
III, VC, SA, LCS and VCS all have intertwined storylines, but IV will be completely new.

I can't believe it got delayed, but at least it should be wicked now. This is my most anticipated game of, uh, the next year or something. I'm a massive fan of GTA. :fat:

This site (http://www.gtaforums.com/index.php?showtopic=262354) seems decent, if you wanna copy it into this topic there'll be a lot of links to fix, but you could just link to it.
I'm excited. I've always said that this is the direction GTA should have moved in. The past few games seemed to just be trying to cover every type of gangster ever, while turning cheap story lines that I never finished (I speak of VC and SA. I loved III and beat the shit out of it). IV looks like it's actually going to have some class.

I have all the others, so i'll probably buy it just for the sake of having it but it didn't intrigue me much, didn't like the look of the main character. I guess I'll have to buy a PS3 first too though, which might not happen.

I'm not sure, but those GTAs were set in different times? San Andreas was set before III (because the main character from III is in it working with Katalina. At the start of III Katalina betrays you.)
And vice city is set in 1986 (Thanks Wikipedia! :D)

One of my top 3 reasons to get a PS3 (other two being final fantasy XIII and the fact that i fucking hate Wii)

I'm very excited for GTA IV as it is a new storyline and it takes place in present time.
I'm disappointed that it got delayed though. The boxes at Gamestop still say October! Lies!

Bring it on!! Can't wait. I've had my copy preordered for 2months, was starting to think about it getting near and then a kick in the balls later and we have to wait an extra 4months. Aaaaargh.

Of course, let's -not- forget about GTA London, and those old ones.

It seems to go by the engine they ran on, each miniseries
GTA 1 included only GTA 1
GTA 2 was GTA 2 and GTA London: 1969
GTA 3 had
-GTA 3 (and liberty city stories)
-Vice City (and vice city stories)
-San Andreas

But isn't GTA4 in Liberty City too?
When Vice City came out, in Tips and Tricks Magazine on the 'coming soon' section, they called it the 4th, and Sanandreas the 5th. But ever since this one came out...
A new version of Liberty City.
The point is that all the games in the 3 era had connecting storylines.
Frankly, I think its great that they are using NY again. LA and Miami aren't my cup of tea.

Is there any word that it's coming out on PC?
I mean like official statements. All I ever hear is assumptions, since the other parts got released on PC after a short while.

My thoughts include the fact that once again, a GTA game was to be release around my birthday, and once again, that date has been pushed farther back than I'd like to admit.

Me too, it was actually exactly on my birthday before it got delayed.

Watched it. While it looks pretty good for the most part, I hope girlfriends are less of a part of the game than they were in San Andreas. They were a pain in the arse in that game, keeping them happy was a chore.

Just like real life, really.
I also hope they eventually release it for the PC. There's no way I'm shelling out for a PS3 or XBox 360.

Cool.
It's called GTA4 because it's going to be in 4D.
No not really, but that would make sense, though it could be considered quite impossible.
I read a review in a magazine recently that sold this game for me.
One of the missions you need to kill this corporate guy, so you can either shoot your way in, or apply for a job, see him in the interview, and cap his ass.
I read that and was like "This game will be played, and I will love it like it loves me."

I read that you could go to the top of a skyscraper and throw people out the top window.
That is what sold it for me.
Provided they sell it for the PC as well.

The newest trailer shows you that it's definitely going to be the best of all GTA games. It looks more actiony and more fun but still keeps the old GTA living strong.

Well one thing's for sure: Dating in San Andreas wasn't done right. I think it will be a whole lot better this time around.

NEW TRAILER IS SEX
I just thought I'd put it out there for you.
Release date: March 08.
But MAN! Cars crumple, people can hide in trash cans, Niko gets covered in blood, there's still comedy, there's boats, there's boats, there's helicopters, the graphics are amazing, there's boats, OH MY SHIT!
Pardon my ignorance, but will it be available for XBox360?
EDIT: Nevermind. Anyone got links to soe screen grabs, or video's on an alternative source to YouTube? (It's blocked at work)

Actually, GTA London: 1969 runs on the GTA1 engine. Just look at some screenshots and compare.
Also, GTA IV seems quite good, although, I'm not a fan of the GTA III series. The first time I played it, it was great. But all those new GTA things like San Andreas are too much alike.

I'm kind of sad there aren't any planes to fly around in. That's one of the things I liked best about San Andreas; was jumping into the private jets or stunt plane and just cruising around over top of one of the counties. At least they're keeping boats, though. That would have been amazingly sad if they got rid of them.
I sure hope too that they make the city a little more realistic than Liberty City in GTA 3. The drop from the city into the water was at least 30 feet in some places. If they make it more like San Andreas was around the water's edge, it'll feel more realistic.

I think San Andreas was a bit of a hiccup in the GTA universe. I mean, I've always associated that game with the kind of Mobster style gameplay, where you start doing gritty jobs and make your way to the top and then finally have some kind of conflict with a major character or something. They got it right in III, Vice City, LCS (somewhat), but not so much San Andreas. It was a fun game (one of my favorites), but I didn't really feel like I was playing a GTA game. Oh well.
GTA IV looks so sick, it's just dumb. I mean, I've seen that trailer 20 odd times now (just like when the first and second ones came out), plus it gives you a sweet look at graphics and gameplay.
Did anyone else notice how the cops kinda get jerked forward in their cars when the Cop Car crashes into that truck near the end of the trailer?
I'm about as pumped as any hardcore GTA junkie can get.

Yeah the jerking is the new RAGE engine, which actualyl has lifelike motions in all factors of gameplay, vehicles, walking and even flying. This gome looks so badass, new screenshots too if anyone noticed.

Oh yeah, sorry, I was thinking about how this is the first GTA to use the RAGE engine, my bad.

RAGE is the graphics engine, Euphoria deals with physics.
