This may not appeal to everyone, but I thought it looked pretty cool. Dragon Ball Online (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonball_Online) is going to be an MMORPG, I assume pay-to-play, much like World of Warcraft. There are quite a few screenshots floating around the internet, and the play features that they've shown look pretty cool to me. The closest I've ever gotten to something like this is the old Quake 3 mod somebody made where you are skinned as Dragonball characters, and the weapons are energy attacks. I haven't watched Dragonball in quite a while (Call it a lack of cable), but I've always been a fan, and this may just rekindle my interest a bit. Unfortunately, there's no scheduled release in the USA yet.. :(
Note: I linked to the wikipedia article because the official site is in Japanese, but it's linked on there anyway.

I think maybe if this game was released about ten years ago it would be more of a hit. The series is already aging and this game could either bring it back, or be the final nail in the coffin.
I don't know, Oinohtna, there are still a fair few fans.
I mean, Dragon Ball has been around for 20 odd years and has just kept gaining more and more readers/watchers since the start.
If a golf MMORPG can survive, a Dragon Ball one has at least half a chance, wouldn't you think?

I suppose it could make it, but I really don't see it becoming the next WoW or anything close to it. I think it will have its own set of followers simply because of the name, but I wouldn't expect it to attract too many newcomers to the series.

It has the potential to be good, but imo they should have just stayed with the fighting games. WoW goes extremely slow sometimes when battling enemies, even big ones. Think about what the usual, fast past DBZ characters will be doing just standing their casting energy moves. Plus, I'm assuming that there's going to be a lot of fist fights instead of swords n' shit, so that wouldn't look too exciting either.
But the graphics looks awesome.

Yeah, this is a bit late. I think it's a good idea though.
It would be AWESOMEGOOD if the fighting was like Budokai: A side-on regular fighting game with the odd supermove. I loved that game, there was loads to unlock and everyone had different moves.
It'd be AWFULLSHIT if they made it like Budokai Tenkaichi: A terrible third-person over-the-shoulder perspective- It's not even a game. It's like a boring application.
EDIT-

Looks kinda cool. You better be able to fly and fight in the air.
also, aren't you like, 30, tempest. :l
A bit late and might be running off of the WoW hopes, but hell, if any of the thousands of re-skinned dragonball fighters still sell, this ought to do pretty well.
Although, at some point I'd like to see some nobody 40-year old get so strong he starts blowing up planets and shit though.

I always thought of Dragon Ball as kinda lame. If I did ever play this game I would never admit it to any of my friends, none of my friends know that I ever played World of Warcraft for the exact same reason.

So your ashamed to admit to playing some video games because your friends might think you're not cool? WoW and DBZ aren't even all that bad. Its not like its "Barbie Horse Adventures: Wild Horse Race" or something similar.

18 :s Where did you get 30 from?
I was looking up a bit more about it last night, if it's not pay to play I will pick it up.. But I can't afford another monthly pay game.
The graphics looks like DBZ: Budokai so thats pretty cool. I'll probably try this out if they have an american version and if its a free to play if its now screw it.

I always love punching guys through the mountains in Budokai.

The only reason I'd play it now is if there isn't gonna be a monthly fee. You'll never get to be able to do all the major stuff:
SPRSJN_300: omg sum fag just blew up namek again
leet-man_09: y dont they go play on the expert servers, fuckin jerks
SPRSJN_300: ya rite, it takes liek foreva 4 the planet to spawn agian
CaptainEFG: sorry for breaking your planet, n00bs
leet-man_09: gtfo fag
SPRSJN_300: ya gtfo
CaptainEFG: lol
I'll miss that :(

The PC Gaming industry isn't all that heard of in Scotland, only nerds play. Maybe I'm being a little stereotypical here but its only because of personal experience. WoW perhaps isn't so bad, but DBZ? Hell no.

The Earth's Special Forces mod for CS was enough for me, and that was years ago. All the Dragonball Z games to date have been mostly crap, except Budokai 2. I really don't expect this ti be fun at all.

You mean in Scotland, only nerds play video games, while in America, both nerds and jocks play video games?

I have no idea how the story goes in America. Lifestyle and culture is completetly different. Even sport isn't at the same levels.

That's what I was thinking of, not Quake.. Not sure where I even got Quake from.

I am a big fan of the Dragon Ball Manga. The anime was no where near the level of awesome that the manga had, the anime actually sucked salty balls, but anyway. If this will not be a monthly fee game (or Private Server..?), if it will be in english and if I can kick people through mountains (and really big rocks), then I might give it a shot. I like the graphics though ^^

You've fishing. You find a treasure chest. You're about to open it, when some asshole's kamehameha misses it's target, punctures a whole through the mountain behind you and pulverizes the beach.
It's be funny, but this'll suck ass.

This looks awesome, if it's released in English I will definitely give it a shot. All the budokai games have been awesome, this could be incredible, hope they don't fuck it up...

DBZ is old but is far from dead. They just started releasing DBZ series box sets and they havnt even gotten past Freiza yet. And DBZ games are always coming out. Dragonball may not be in production anymore, but its still alive :)
EDIT lol whoops, didn't even realize I did two posts.

Manga fanboi eh?
I never understood the fascination with manga, aka anime story boards which I found out recently (At least for Naruto Shippuuden) has as much filler as anime :)
Of course, I've never been much into comics either but to me, anime = the real deal. Your seeing it unfold, hearing it, feeling it. Sure theirs filler, but manga has just as much. In manga, you see key moments with some dialouge usually in black and white. Naruto is my current favorite anime, after watching the rest of the episodes on youtube (You get tired of CN taking so fecking long to come out with episodes) I was waiting for more, recently found out about Shippuuden, which is only up to episode 24/25 and its pretty damn good, it takes a week or more for the eps to appear on youtube though. SO I started downloading the manga and have read as far as have been released and its decent but I'd rather watch it.
As for the MMO... Il'l have to research because even though I've only played one MMO (wow) I think I can tell a crappy one. A DBZ MMO won't work unless you can't play the DBZ chars or you have to earn them, I don't want to see a million Goku's running around, if it had the same character customization that wow had then it would work. I'd personally like to see a kick ass pokemon MMO, now don't get me wrong, I havn't played anything pokemon wise in about 10 years, after beating Blue/Yellow/Gold then losing everything on gold after using my first game shark cheat I lost interest, they should have stayed at 151 pokemon, anyway, if they made a good looking pokemon MMO I'd definitly play it.

Anime fanboy eh?
I don't really think that 'fanboy' applies in this situation, some people just like to read over watching, watching over reading. "The 360 has much better online multiplayer than the PS3 will ever have! Fuck Wii!"
It's like choosing between drawing or writing.
Anyway, I watch anime it's not like the Naruto anime is bad (If you don't count the fillers that is) I still will go for the manga over the anime any time though, but to be honest. The DBZ anime was the most long stretched piece of crap I have ever laid eyes on. I think of the manga the hardcore DBZ experience

Take it easy with the "fanboy" calling.
There are some stories that just fit better with a particular format. Ghost in the Shell is good on manga, but awesome in anime. I doubt Lone Wolf would look too good on anime, but it's an incredible manga.
But yes, the filler on anime sometimes pisses me off. There are literally whole episodes where all you see is Goku on the floor all fucked up from a fight reminiscing. The fights, in my opinion, more than make up for it though.
By the way, anyone remember the end of season 1 of DBZ where Namek's supposed to explode in 15 minutes, and that lasts like 5 episodes?
