View Full Version : Robert Rodriguez vs. Predator
Ok, here's your daily reboot post. If this keeps up we're going to need a category dedicated only to reboots.
They're going to reboot Predator and call it Predators. See what they did there? They added an S, so it's different.
Anyway, Robert Rodriguez is going to reboot this series and remake it in his own version. He's going to produce and direct it, after he's done filming Machete, Fuck yeah! I can't wait for that one! He's also working on Sin City 2 and The Jetsons. What the fuck... The Jetsons?
Release date is set for July 7, 2010.

I like Robert Rodriguez, I like Predator. This could be awesome.
Can't he finish Sin City 2 and Machete before he starts planning new movies?

He fought humans, he fought Schwarzenegger, he fought Alien, what more could the Predator fight? :indiff: Also, yeah like Tweek said, he should finish Sin City 2 first.
That's not to say it won't be pretty rad though.
I haven't seen the original Predator or anything yet but Robert Rodriguez is totally awesome.

It's not Predator 3, although Rodriguez did write a P3 but it was axed because the movie would of been too "big". It's a remake, it won't have anything to do with the originals, It'll be his take on the story and how it should of been.

Fuck this, I want to see how Robert Rodriguez makes The Jetsons.

If it was anyone other than Rodriguez, I would think this would tank.

My thoughts exactly. However, what he has done, he's done well, so this hopefully will be a GOOD remake.
Lately, that trend hasn't been followed.

That's right, I remembered after that he did the spy kids movies. So I guess Jetsons will be live action then.
I rather enjoyed the first two Spy Kids movies. I thought they were very well done. I'm wondering what the conflict of The Jetsons would be.
I'm tired of him working on kid flicks. Though he does them pretty quick, so it's never like a huge gap between his awesome movies.
But anyway, him doing Predator would be fucking awesome! But I really would just like the guy to finish all of the other movies he's started. This is great news but I'd rather have heard "He's actually shooting Sin City 2!"

Yeah. I think a big reason he does kids movies is because of his son. Though he did have his sons character get shot in the face or whatever in Plant Terror.
Really though at least the Jetson's might not be too too bad.

I've never heard of this guy but I loved the original predator and he seems like an OK guy so I guess it might be all right. They should give Arnold Scharwsrsenagger a cameo as a corpse or something. I'd be all like "haha, yeah...".

You've never heard of Robert Rodriguez? From Dusk Till Dawn, The Faculty, Once Upon a Time in Mexico, Sin City, Grindhouse: Planet Terror?

Yeah, screw his versatility as a director! People should just pick one narrow category and never go outside of it, no matter how much they might like the job.
Also:
Can't he finish Sin City 2 and Machete before he starts planning new movies?
No, because he's a greedy bastard who doesn't want anyone else to get the jobs.

The mystery of why there are no black people in the future?
I wish people would quit with all the remakes. Unncessary remakes, I mean, why didn't he just make a fucking sequel for fucks sake. Why doens't anyone make a sequel? A fucking well-thought, top-of-the-line sequel and not just some shitty fucking rehash of something in order to make a quick buck.
It's so sickening.

I pretty much agree, but I'm getting tired of sequels too. Can't people come up with something original and have it become a new classic?

No. Everything nowadays is either a remake, a sequel, or based off of a book. Even from the beginning movies have been based off of books.
Horror movies have too many awful sequels.
Action movies are all pretty similar. (guns, terrorists, explosions, roll credits)
Romance movies are all predictable and samey.
Fantasy movies are based off of books.
Science Fiction movies tend to be awful, or based off of a t.v. show or book.
Indie movies have original ideas, but are favored by elitist pricks, or go unnoticed because they were made in another country.
That's just the way it is.
On-topic, this should be okay, but probably not the movie of the year.

I don't fault the guy, because obviously he digs making kid movies. I'm simply saying that I would rather him pander solely to my interests, because there is not benefit for me in him making kids' movies.
I don't expect him to. I'd just prefer it.
