hey guys, i overheard a rumour at my scool, some said that "nintendo is making a new 2D mario game coming out this fall" they also said you can play with 4 players, and there is going to be new powerups. Is this true?

Yes it is true. Here's some info, it's on Wii, you can play as Mario, it uses the wiimote.

sounds cool, seems like something that would shine in my wii collection. i got 100 of em'. bought them off a guy who sells em cheap as hell! pawn shop, much? its good cause i like the retro mario games bettter then the new ones.

I thought I saw this on the internet and apparently it's "The New Super Mario Bros" that came out for the DS, but they're now making a Wii copy. Didn't catch if there were any new features, but I'm guessing there will be.

The New Super Mario Bros.Wii has been announced, basically bringing the DS New Super Mario Bros. to the Wii, plus an added co-operative feature. This feature should allow up to four players to drop into the game at any time, adding new abilities and things to make beating the stages a whole new joy. There are also more suits and power ups to add even more fun, or so it's basically spread.

Also, Super Mario Galaxy 2 has been announced as well.

I wish they would, they've massacred every Mario character and put him in so many different places there's no where else to go.
