I made an animation showreel in January- I'm gonna call that a practice run. This is the one I'm gonna persistantly annoy the shit out of employers with.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iiQFfYNcy2k

I'm not 100% happy with it. It's just about impossible for me to catch any game footage, because the CPU has a hard enough time runnin the game at 30fps WITHOUT the video capture software. So what's in there is missing a lot of very important frames and runs at the wrong speed :(
And I wish I had some animal animation to show. And I need to add an effect to Gunface.
Any feedback you've got of the order I've shown stuff in, what I've shown, how much of everything for how long n all that shite: Much appreciated.
Even feedback on the actual scenes, that'd be good n all.

My deadline for this was the 16th of June. My college has this end-of-year-show exhibition for all the courses to stand about n look pretty. That's all gone to shit though- In fact I'm gonna detail that right now:
The idea of this about a month ago was to show your stuff off to a bunch of potential employers. Since then, my course as bin relegated to a different building in the middle of nowhere, our space has bin cut down by half, nobody important is gonna be there, we're in a fucking cabinet at the back of a library, I'm stuck next to the retards on this course who's own shit looks like someone's first try at Photoshop, I'm not allowed to be anywhere near the exhibition on the day, and worst of all I've now got no fucking screen to show any video off. So I'm completely on my own gettin a job after college now n I'm none too pleased. Also my headphones av gone all quiet and I don't know why :(

Anyway FEEDBACK GO!

A nice way of giving sneak previews of YeahBaby (or whatever the hell you call it now), and noticing a lot of work done with that human 3D poser.
Pretty solid work overall.

Also gunface? New movie or possible game?

Looked good to me, pretty nice.

But in the 4 Fried Chickens thing, I didn't notice before but sometimes the guys fingers seem to sink into the table.

When you break down all the frames character of animation, it's too small, and on the screen too quickly to get a proper look at it. Also, at the speed the video runs at, it doesn't look at if you have actually used all of the frames that you are showing.

As for rectifying it, maybe just have a couple of the more impressive looking ones on ful screen more, at a slightly slower framrate?

EDIT: OK, on a couple more viewings, maybe what i've just said it is not applicable, but is this because I now know what i'm looking for? What do other poeple think?

I think you could've easily put it on full screen and it would've looked fine. I also think you guys should realize that this is not the quality other people will be seeing.

Smelly don't you have access to a more powerful computer for rendering purposes.

While I remember, Smelly, download this (http://www.bbsoftware.co.uk/BBFlashBack/Home.aspx) this piece of software. It'll even work on your computer. Promise.

I tried it, but I don't think it's possible for me to record a game without missing out a bunch of frames, like no matter what program does it.

No Gunface is just a guy I drew, then decided he would be kind of funny to animate.

My end-of-year show was yesterday. It was still terribly managed, but I got my own damn monitor. Like I said, we were in a library- I commandeered a bunch of Macs, pointed them at the doors and left a looping showreel up and Robot Dinosaurs That Shoot Beams When They Roar.

I talked to one guy for a while and he asked me for a contact card. I didn't have any :(
I talked to another guy with a camera for ages about what I'm doin after college, how I make games etc etc. He had a lot to say about old-school games, top-down games and Micro Machines. Then he asked me for a contact card- didn't have one- he wrote down my site and e-mail address and said he'd pass it on to the guys on the Project Gotham Racing team. I checked who that was when I got home and it's Bizarre Creations, who also make Geometry Wars. Duhrrrr that's why he thought old-ass games were so much better than everything out now.
They're in Liverpool, and looking for character animators. I sent an application, mentioning the exhibition and that guy who was so interested.

Oh and a couple of my mates want to make Robot Dinosaurs on XNA with me, so I'll post a 3D Tyranosaurus X later. It probably won't go anywhere but it'll be a laugh.
