2012 is the latest everything-goes-to-hell flick from master of disaster Roland Emerich. This one is about the WORLD FRIGGIN ENDING so I take it he's going to retire from the disaster genre after this.

What is the disaster meant to be though? Meteors, earthquakes etc.
Is it just any special effect they could afford to throw in?
There are many theories as to what will happen but some believe Dec.21,2012 will be doomsday, the end of the world!

edit: it actually looks waaay bad ass in the stupidest fucking way. I just watched the trailer, and god damn. The story is probably gunna be complete shit but Cusack looks like the kinda guy who can pull off a completely serious act in the stupidest movie ever. The story is still gunna suck though.
Also it better not be gay and pull a "day after tomorrow" where everything gets fixed within like 3 days or something.
Yeah but what about in the movie? They can't seriously just have an amalgamation of every possible doomsday theory, can they?

It looks like this involves a flying Noah's ark to avoid the apocalypse so expect shitty religious scenes and boring bits introducing somebody who is most likely a geologist (how exciting). I'd like to see a disaster film with an interesting story that gets interrupted suddenly by the disaster out of the blue :D

Actually it looks pretty sweet, I like how they incorporated great landmarks being destroyed (Christ the Redeemer and the Sistine Chapel). I like catching little allusions like that and it seems like there will be a lot of it. I also liked the whole ethical dilemma in letting the people know that some will be saved or not. I'll probably watch it.

I've always wanted a disaster movie to get rid of the cliché characters like a nurse and a single father.
When I read a review for Magnolia saying that something biblical happened at the end, I was hoping for something more like this trailer. I grew impatient for 2 and a half hours and when it rained frogs I was mighty pissed off. The film is rated quite highly so maybe I should watch it again one day, but to me it didn't give me what I wanted.
I think if even if a terrible movie like Rush Hour or High School Musical stopped after an hour because of a tidal wave or a meteor, it would suddenly be loved by everyone.

This movie sounds pretty cool but hopefully it will not disapoint. I just hope it is not as lame as The Day After Tomorrow.

I can just see everybody on december 21st, 2012 staring at their clock around midnight...once that clock hits "12:00 AM" its gunna be like fuckin new year's! Everyone will be running around "Aha mayan sons of bitchesss!!!!!" But the movie does look tight.

Roland Emmerich is a piece of shit and he always will be. He just likes destroying international landmarks with special effects. He already made an end of the world movie. But I guess since he only half ended the world in that one, he's decided to come back and finish the job.
That aside, the special effects look fucking stellar and I am a huge Cusack fan, so I'll probably see this.

I've hated every movie the man has made. He is comparable to Michael Bay. I wouldn't even put him a step up from Bay. At least Bay had cool robot fights for a minute.
