Explosm Idol Competition Thread

IT STARTS NOW!

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS
Each round, the judges and I will give you a choice of two songs. Choose one and record yourself singing it. (Here's a lovely program. (http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/)) Upload it here (http://www.mediafire.com/) or here (http://www.youtube.com) (video = bonus points).

We will judge entries after the submission window is closed, giving points in three different areas: Talent, Style, and Entertainment Value. Each area has 10 available points. Contestants' scores in each area will then be averaged.

This will continue for 5-7 rounds (we're not sure, tell us what you think while you're at it) each round lasting 4 days. At the end, everyone's scores will be added up and whoever has the most wins!

What people have done so far is just play it on their speakers and sing over it. If you wanted to get fancy, you could find a download of the karaoke version, import it into audacity, and then hit record and it'll record your voice onto a different track.

I recorded the karaoke version from my laptop output jack into my interface, though you could just run a cable from the output into the input on your onboard sound. Remember to turn shit right down if you do that though, it will be incredibly fucking loud.

I've imported the karaoke version of Faith in Audacity and recorded my voice, but it's out of sync for some reason. I'm pretty sure I sung it right though, does anyone know what the problem is or what I'm doing wrong?

To be honest I think that this round should be user chosen. People should be able to pick what they want to do, thus showing off their best type of singing.
