Do you guys think this movie will go through? And will it be good? I saw one of the choices to play Bilbo was Daniel Radcliffe.

I hope it goes through. It seems a bit shit if they don't pay for what they should have for the trilogy so the Hobbit dies.
I thought they were making like 2 versions of it with 2 different directors, not having one director making 2 parts. Oh well.
I don't think Radcliffe will be right, someone a little older seems more fitting. And as much as I love David Tennant, I think someone unknown would be better. Someone who fits the character instead of being famous.
But I hope it works, I'm excited for it.
God dammit I wanted to make that.

Out of those three rumored actors, James McAvoy, would be the best in my opinion. Typical Time Warner, robbing anyone they can.

McAvoy would be perfect. Last I checked, I heard they were solid on him as Bilbo. To be fair though, I was never really paying that much attention.
In my opinion, The Hobbit will translate to screen a whole hell of a lot better than LotR did.

I don't know, LotR had the right mix for me, whereas Del Toro on the Hobbit, I see him over-coating everything a little too much. But I could be wrong, could be a faithful adaption to its children movies, LotR.
I see it sucking because I'm not fucking making it.
You guys think I'm joking.
I guess I can just wait 30 years. FUCK.

They are splitting it into two movies, though I personally think that the Hobbit could easily be condensed into a two hour movie. I'm hoping for the best, however.
They better keep the same Gandalf or I'm not watching it.

Yeah, pretty much.
There's no reason they wouldn't. It's the same people making it, and it's not like Sir Ian McKellen is doing anything better.
He's listed as "rumored" on the IMDb page.

Yeah, I'm sure the estate would love to give you rights to that.
It could be good. It could suck. It will almost definitely happen. But I'm not going to try making opinions too soon, just seems like a poor practice to me.

In case you guys didn't read the article in the OP, the movie might not (and probably won't) get made at all.
It's Hollywood. The films will bring in billions. They're getting made eventually. New Line will settle all of the disputes with money so that they can make even more money.

Eventually being the key word. At the moment, it does look like it's stuck in Development Hell.
Good, maybe I still have a chance.
Nah, I give it like, 6 months additional, if anything, then it will be in the works.

It's been in the works for years.

Six months is nothing in this world. But the press probably helps.
It would be a tragedy if this movie was scrapped because of greed. Time Warner should just pay their dues and be done with it. On another note, I actually think Tennant would be a good Bilbo! (not that McAvoy would be a bad choice, I just think Tennant would be better).
I think they'd both be bad as Bilbo. Isn't he more of a portly, greedy sort of character?

How would a six foot Scottish actor be a good choice for a short sereotypicaly-west-country character? McAvoy would be a good choice, if only because he has the eyes and the hair for it.
Edit: + what Tweek said.
Yeah, I thought the same thing. McAvoy has that "Hobbit Look" (looks a bit like Wood), and yes, Tweek, you are right. Bilbo is a portly, greedy kinda guy, but if they can make Hagrid convincingly huge (same with gandalf) I dont see a problem with making Tennant portly. In the end I am not bothered by who gets the part, as long as they release the movies!

Bilbo wasn't as greedy before the ring, I think.

Wonder who Ron Perlman will be playing.
