So, Spyro is getting a movie. Elijah Wood plays him and Gary Oldman is in it. (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1133604/)
Thoughts?
More as it develops.

Has anyone played Spyro since the 90's?
It won't do badly, I guess. Just a bit of a weird time to make the movie in my opinion.

It's still pretty popular with the youngin's, Tweek. I suppose this could be interesting to see how it pans out.

Ahh I remember the countless hours me and my siblings played the first Spyro game on PSOne. The new Spyro game was shit though, and I really don't see why the would make a movie off the game.

The newer games suck, so they might as well do something with the series. I'm looking forward to seeing how this turns out.

I actually just played through the original Spyro game (completing it 100%, of course), and finished it yesterday. Great game, but I never kept up with the newer games. I've heard they're quite different.
Anyways, I seriously don't know what to think of this as a film. I doubt I'll watch it, but I'll pay attention to the feedback it gets.
Jesus, do they have to make every video game into a movie? And every movie into a video game? Well, to be fair it looks okay but in my experience video game movies just fall flat on their ass at the box office.
Spyro 1 was pretty fun
Spyro 2 was even more fun
Spyro 3 was bad aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaassssssss
Everything after that was kind of mediocre. I sorta liked Spyro 4 but it wasn't that great.
Though I did like all 3 GBA games. Those were fun.

I reckon that'll be crap, the first few Spyros were great, but it went really down hill after that.

Just an FYI: The original 3 games on the PS1 were all made by Insomniac Games, who moved on the do Ratchet & Clank (and now Resistance) after they felt they'd done all they wanted with the Spyro series.
Then Vivendi Universal bought Spyro and plowed it straight into the ground. Which is the same thing they did with Crash Bandicoot.

you are correct with your information.
Who did the gba games though? Because both the spyro ones and the crash ones were great.
Why the fuck did they not use the same voice actor.
that will ruin it for me.
elijah wood is in no shape or form as cool as spyro.

I wasn't one of the cool kids with a Playstation back when Spyro was in his prime, but I played it here and there. That being said I don't know any of the game plots or whatever, but from what I remember it doesn't really seem like a game that could end up being a movie.

Oh god.
Like most other videogame movies, this is going to fail. I can't see this being good at all.
It's going to be a Crash Bandicoot movie next.

Oh jeez, Spyro? The only reason why Spyro was "fun" was because you had the control of actually doing what you wanted. Running into walls, Running into some random guy minding his own business, or just running...
Run. Run. Run.
But now a movie? Well, IMO, it's gonna suck. It would be like watching 4 hours of someone playing a game. With more camera angles, which would look pretty cool, in a way.
I'm pretty sure something like this was happening with GTA: San Andreas?
There was going to be a movie about that. But, seriously. GTA was fun because you got to walk into any random store, jump onto the counter, and shoot the cashier. In this movie, its the same deal.

Just wow. This movie will suck. From the producer of Eragon? Why would you advertise that? Eragon was the most disappointing movie I've ever seen. I used to play Spiro 2 all day long but I never imagined the franchise to be a movie.. Not going to work.

You're a fucking moron, aren't you? Granted, the movie will probably suck, but your reasoning here is just fucking retarded.
First of all, I hate the look they gave him. It looks like they tried to make him look a little more realistic while keeping his cartoonish charm... doesn't work for me.
As for the film itself, I have no idea where they're taking it. I wish they would've used the original voice actor, but the grass is always greener.

Also yeah, they should have used the original character design.
The problem with this is its going to be like a game you can't play. All cinematic and no substance. As much as it could be good, Im trying to determine how they could make this work
Did this producer not learn from his first dragon mistake?

Yeah, it'll be just like a game you can't play- cinematic and such- you know, like a movie.

I think they should just be spending this time to dig the Spyro franchise out of the shit hole. I'd donate to that cause.
Yeah, it'll be just like a game you can't play- cinematic and such- you know, like a movie.
I understand that. But as opposed to videogames being made into live action, this is just going to be souped up cinematics.
