Out of the blue, Radiohead have released this tribute track to the last survivor of WWI in Britain who died recently.

It sounds like Sigur Ros. (http://download.waste.uk.com/Store/did.html#) :hmm:

Haha, Harry Patch.
Great song, that's a bad link because you have to buy it or something, but still it's kind of an overwhelming song.

Yeah it is.
I'm really loving the string section, it's really beautiful sounding and pretty much what I expected from Jonny Greenwood. Phil, Colin and Ed sound great in this recording!!11
This is really out of the blue though, isn't it? I was really hoping for a song from their new album or something, but this is really nice as well. The lyrics are pretty nice as well, although they do seem like Thom just took things that Harry Patch probably said himself.

You of all people
But no, the strings are absolutely gorgeous. Reminds me as if Thom had sung along to certain sections of There Will Be Blood. Speaking of, this song is a huge reminder of why Thom is a fantastic singer. In any other singers mouth, the lyrics would seem awful, but he makes them work.
If this is what their album is like, I'm incredibly excited. Also can't wait for Thom to release that new Twilight track, as much as I hate Twilight.

I really loved the string arrangement. I could probably listen to JUST the strings and it would have been a great song. Thom's voice seemed a little weak though, sounded a little overpowered by the strings; He seemed to fade behind them at points. Otherwise amazing and beautiful song. Sounds like it would be the perfect album closer.
You of all people
FFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCKKK.
Also, if anyone hasn't listened to Thom Yorke's cover of "All For the Best" by Miracle Legion, do so. It's, in my opinion, one of the best songs Thom's done in his solo career.

Being as big of a Radiohead head fan as I am, I didn't care much for this. I honestly found it boring and lacking any sort of ethereal or dynamic energy. Thom's voice was particularly weak, like in his Bjork cover.

It's a tribute song. The man just died. It wouldn't have made sense for it to be a big song.
I love it. It's perfectly subdued and the strings are beautiful and the lyrics are amazing, if disturbing.

I didn't mean that I wanted it to sound big, but it's missing that presence that their other songs have.

Bumping this with the leak of another new song, "These Are My Twisted Words".

It's debated whether or not it's a Thom Yorke solo song or Radiohead; whether it was leaked or it is apart of some elaborate plan by the band; or whether it's new or an old left over song from another album.

They said they wouldn't be making a traditional album, so who knows what that means.

Also, according the text file included with the torrent, this Radiohead EP might be dropping Monday (http://news.cnet.com/8301-13515_3-10309227-26.html). Holy fuck.
New song is mindblowing, of course. Reminds me a bit of Sonic Youth in their Daydream Nation phase. Psychedelic Radiohead? I can dig.

Holy crap, that song is amazing (the ambience reminds me of Kid A which excites me greatly). If they do have a new EP coming out I will probably need to change my underwear.

I also just noticed the beginning effect is the same as a Pavement song called You Are A Light, which was also produced by Nigel Godrich. Makes me think this track is legit.

Yeah, I admit, I am too.
I was really skeptical at first but now that I hear that the EP is rumoured to be called 'Wall of Ice' and http://www.wallofice.com redirects to Radiohead's online store, this shit could really be happen. Oh. My. God. Yes.

I've been reading almost every single conspiracy analysis and to tell you the truth, I have no idea what's gonna happen. Some people say that wallofice.com was made by some kid in Sweden after tracking the IP and that he's just forwarding the website to radiohead's store to fuck with people.
But IF something does happen on Monday, I'm gonna shit my pants and cry. The anticipation is killing me.

His song was so similar to what Radiohead does, there's not much point as seeing it as anything but an extention of the work he does there.

Nah, Thom Yorke's solo efforts definitley have a different sound than Radiohead's. It's hard to explain but Thom delves more into the electronic side, and it's easy to recognize if it was a solo song.

Oh well, the anticipation was fun while it lasted.
Turns out it was just a single release of These Are My Twisted Words. The good news? It comes with some badass Stanley Donwood/Tchock artwork, and you can get the bundle for free here. (http://www.waste.uk.com/Store/waste-radiohead-twisted+words.html)
This is what the band has said:
These Are My Twisted Words
So here's a new song, called 'These Are My Twisted Words'.
We've been recording for a while, and this was one of the first we finished.
We're pretty proud of it.
There's other stuff in various states of completion, but this is one we've been practicing, and which we'll probably play at this summer's concerts. Hope you like it.

Yeah, and to think I stayed up all morning waiting for an "EP".
A bit disappointing, but hey, I'll take a free track any day. Off to bed now I think.
