I searched pretty hard for a thread about this movie, so forgive if I've doubled up. This is the Terry Gilliam film that Heath Ledger was working on before he died, in which Christopher Plummer plays Doctor Parnassus, Tom Waits stars as The Devil and Johnny Depp, Colin Farrell and Jude Law all fill in for Ledger's unfinished scenes. The trailer has just surfaced on the internet and, frankly, it looks seriously awesome.

It's set for release on October 16.

I wonder how well it will work. It might just end up being really unsettling.

But the trailer looks cool, and I'm defiantly looking forward to watching it.

I wonder why they chose three actors to fill in for Heath, and not just one. It would make things a little more obvious it's a different actor in different scenes. Either way, the trailer looked really cool, I'll probably end up seeing it.

They chose that because it fits in the story. He goes through different realms in a magical world, and the decision was to have him portrayed in each place as a different physical body. By making it more than one change they could show that it was just something that happened there, not a one time thing.

Saw this earlier. I am intrigued. I'll definitely see it.

Maybe Ledger only shot 1/4 of his role.

Hats of!

I've been looking forward to this film since I first heard it. I'm a big fan of Gilliam, Twelve Monkeys and Brazil is two great movies, and I'm also a huge fan of Monty Python.

As I understand it Heath shot quite allot of his stuff before he died, the other three actors just filled in. Quite looking forward of Tom Waits devil, even if he looks way creepy bald. Also, according to Wikipedia, Peter Stormare was going to portray "A World Statesman" - could be fun.

Oh, that's a perfect idea. I just read up on it at http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1054606/ and it looks very interesting. I've read good things about it and It's making me excited.

More than one person as Ledgers replacement means that its intentional and its for the movie, just having one person replace him makes it look just as it is, a replacement.

Yeah, this way it serves more as a tribute to him, rather than a dismissal of his contribution. I bet he's going to be really good in it too, and I think it'll be nice to be able to remember him by a character not as twisted as The Joker. Between this and the video for King Rat by Modest Mouse I'm even more saddened that he's not going to be around to bring out more stuff, he was one talented guy.

i really like the technique of using 3 more actors to complete heath ledger's role....works as a tribute and such.

I saw this last night. I went in fully expecting it to be utter shit because I think all the actors playing Tony are overrated and shit.

It was entertaining and captivating. Tom Waits was excellent, and Lily Cole is straight up gorgeous and can clearly do more than just model.

Some parts weren't explained as clearly as they could have been but it was easy enough to keep up. I'd recommend seeing this.

That would make sense seeing as how I haven't seen any previews or anything in my area yet. I'm hoping I do actually get it though. The movie theatres here are kinda spotty on certain movies.
