What exactly happened during the blimp dinner that turned the explorer guy from a friendly host to a dastardly villain?

- I know he implied that he killed others who attempted to capture the bird before him

- But the old guy Carl didn't want the bird, he just wanted to live in paradise

So why didn't Carl guy just give the bird to the explorer guy?

carl still had a heart and couldn't bear to let the kid down, and he was attached to the bird by then :3

I was wondering perhaps the explorer guy made any indication that he would kill the bird or at least make her life a living hell to hasten Carl guy's hesitation?

i like how this movie is about an old guy tying balloons to his house and making it a giant air ship and THIS is the part of the storyline you have a problem with

He does I think. I can't remember, the copy i downloaded was horrible.

And I was like 'holy moly Pixar characters can bleed that's awesome'
