This isn't a vista hate thread or anything, it's great having it. But XP will be even faster, is compatible with more stuff, etc etc. I've tried installing XP on here, but i just get an error message, of the blue screen variety. Also, whenever I partition my hard drive to attempt it, i lose the partition to some EISA Configuration. (Google searches reveal this is for backup purposes)

TL;DR
Has anyone done it, how do I do it?

i just get an error message

Do you one to help expect any with that little detail? It almost looks like a joke. What did you try, exactly? How did you partition? What error message? Really, any solid information would help.

There really isn't any reason to. It's faster if you have a a netbook, which you don't, and slower if you have a decent amount of ram (xp doesn't cache stuff nearly as well because computers in 2001 had far less ram). XP has better compatibility with old stuff, but worse compatibility with new stuff. Add the fact that there probably won't be drivers, and you should just suck it up and use Vista.

Get Win 7, it's faster than Vista.

Yeah why are you regressing to XP a month before Windows 7 hits stores?

Aha. I don't know. Force of habit I guess.

I guess i was in a bad mood when i posted this thread because my Handycam isn't compatible with Vista, meaning I'm gonna have to ring up my friend to borrow is Mac whenever I need to rip something.
