Art Le Poop - A gallery of (continuing) Stupidity

[Captain Insanity]

(It's been a while since I posted something, or more correctly: it's been a while since I had anything worth posting. After re-reading the rules I don't believe I committed any Forum faux pars, but if I have - well I guess I will be dealt with accordingly.)

So having somehow fallen pray to the slave-driving she-demon that is full time work, my art (ie: the silly little cartoons I draw) had been put on the back burners to simmer for a little while. But, as luck would have it, work brings money (who'd a thunk it!) which in turn can be used as tender for items of necessity or want.

And I wanted a Wacom tablet.

So I got one.

This little topic will be filled with my attempts at salvaging the burnt mess of a hobby that had been left on a low to moderate heat for a period of many months.

Numero Uno
As a present to a friend I whipped up a series of drawings and comics that detailed some of the funny and embarrassing moments we'd had together over the years. The below is essentially what happened when we first met.

(Note: one character does indeed have a Radio for a head - that's my friend's character. Guess his favorite band. The curly haired weird one is yours truely.)

Please critique as harshly ass you please. If you think it sucks - say so! I have no need for sugar coating, this is about improvement.

Notes about the comic:
- I am aware of the pixelation (especially around speach bubbles), this is an issue that has been addressed.
- I am aware of the strange arm pose of Radiohead during the hug. Just couldn't get it right. Recommendations are welcome!

Well it looks fine and everything, if a little plain in some panels.
Maybe you could add some sweet shading and backgrounds like they do in some of those rad looking graphic novels and the like.

The joke itself could use some improving, the art isn't bad, especially in the up-close shots but yeah as Tweek said it does look plain in a lot of the frames.

Raxo: Basically this was the first time myself and a mate met. After I rambled on for a bit my now close friend came to conclusion that I was in fact a dick. Though indeed a valid assessment i latched on to the poor bastard and have been friends ever since!

Tweek: Hmmm, shading hey? Can do! As for backgrounds, the present the comic was from was completed in a matter of a few days. I sacrificed backgrounds for time, though I agree they would improve the comic.

IronWire: Had the joke been intended for external sources I would agree, as it was intended as more of an in-joke any changes would have affected the outcome for the desired audience. Appreciate the comment though! All constructive critique is good critique!

Touche good sir! Although my intention was to get some critique on the art, not the joke, I should have provided something more worth the while for the reader. To be honest the vast majority of afore mentioned present is in-jokes and reminders of funny moments; I was a bit too lazy to actually make something new.

I shall redeem myself IronWire! I have begun work on another comic that should be more acccessible to any party. Additionally this piece will be more focused on the artsy and less on "Teh Funneh".

I shall post progress pictures!
