Look what I drew. (http://fc02.deviantart.com/fs19/f/2007/258/9/6/Chun_Li_by_Matterialize.png)
It's the first thing I've really tried to colour/shade properly, with the ol' tablet.

Thats pretty spiffy (spiffy meaning good) for a first proper try at colouring and shading with a tablet. Very nice, could be cleaned up a bit though, that and the out of focus guy looks cool but when I really looked at it the structure confused me. Looks like his teeth are coming out of his chin.

The victim there is doing an anime-style jaw-drop, like Tycho in the last panel. (http://www.penny-arcade.com/images/2007/20070831.jpg)
He's not important though. Chun-Li is the main attraction.

Ah ok, fair enough. And yeah Chun Li deffinately is impressive. Nice work.

Her left leg should be smaller, considering the angle. Perspective is a bitch, but you managed to capture the kick quite well. Did you use a reference?
Also, your light sources are inconsistent. On her right leg it seems to be in the top left corner but for her left leg it's bottom right; on the clothing it's behind her to the right- etc etc.
It might be just me but the back part of her dress thing comes out too far, implying she has a huge ass or something.
Is it just me or did you not finish the hair? Or is it just to imply that her bao things or what they're called are moving rapidly?
thing for light sources (probably not right but woteva) (http://img522.imageshack.us/img522/2194/chunlibymattdudeij2.png) Where it says shouldn't this be darker, it's based on having the light source from the back like the rest of the dress. If it's from the same light source as the knee, it would be same, but then the back part of the dress should be lighter.
Clean up lines and stuff. Shading and stuff looks good, even if it's not in the right place. Most people won't even notice, I didn't even know until I looked at the picture for the fourth time or so, and I was looking for flaws.

Yeah at first glance it does kind of look like the teeth are flipped outward instead of the jaw-drop look, i think because it's an upside-down perspective or something...weird somehow, anyhow looks great except her left thigh seems kind of big compared to the rest of her body. Did you draw her too? Just wondering because you said colour/shade and the some outside lines look harsh (like a really high resolution scribble and brought down to a lower resolution).
Really good for a first shade/colour....when I started using my tablet I was like "ummm, go there" and my pointer wouldn't because I wasn't used to the whole screen height/width adhering to the tablet so eventually I closeted it for a year then busted it out and became natural to draw with somehow.

Eh, the light source is technically supposed to be coming from the top-right. The back part of her little dress thing and the bit of her right leg are in the shadow of her own body. You're right about the front part of her dress, it should be a little darker.
As for the hair, it's complete - like you said, it's just streaming loosely from those, uh, "bao" things.
Her left thigh was tricky, because she's supposed to have very muscular thighs. Chun-Li's thing was kicks, and she really did have big, powerful legs. That being said, perhaps her right thigh is too small...
I drew her from scratch, but I used this pic for referencing her outfit:

Jesus, Matt. You're skills are pretty sweet. The only thing I can really draw is cartoons. :(
Nice job, dude.

I didn't make the one in my previous post; it was just reference material. Chun-Li is a kickass chick, so I'm gonna draw her again in a different pose and wearing something like this. (http://www.slateman.net/images/gaming/chunli.jpg)

She looks like she's about to backhand someone. And that's a plus :heya:.
Agreed. It is pretty nice I like it and as Derelect said I can only draw cartoons

Needs moar pussay. Just kidding. I like the guy getting his head kicked off. Because that guy is me.
My only real suggestion is putting your lineart on top of all the layers and setting it to multiply...that is if you're using Photoshop. That way the lines don't look too unnoticable.

I don't know what that is. If you hadn't already guessed, I'm a beginner at this... I only started using Photoshop when I gt my tablet and I still don't know a lot about it.

Lineart is just the outline of the drawing. Well, the sketch itself without any colour, I mean. I suppose he's suggesting this, to try and bring out the outlines a bit more, but maybe thats not what you were going for anyway?

Basically what Vortex said, but it's not a sketch. It's just the lines that compose the image's shapes. Some examples (http://images.google.ca/images?svnum=10&um=1&hl=en&rlz=1T4GGIH_enCA220CA221&q=lineart&btnG=Search+Images)
Some of the proportions of the girl are off. Both the legs are what seem to be off, the back leg is too chunky and the front leg isn't quite right. It's too big when it reaches the rest of her body which just makes the rest seem like it's not right. Also her front arm's forearm is pretty chunky.
The colouring is good though. The face of the girl is very good too, I always find it a challenge to make the face well detailed and well made.

Guys, I know what lineart is. I just didn't know what he meant by "putting it on top and setting it to multiply".
The legs are supposed to be big. Chun-Li is ripped from the waist down.
Although, they do need to be a lot more sculpted and muscular-looking, instead of just large oblongs. They are chunky, in that sense.

I thought that might've been what you meant, Matterialize. I was just throwing it in, incase you didn't actually know what lineart was ;)

I didn't draw that second pic, it was just reference material.
I think the second drawing is fantastic.
God damnit, you people need to learn to read.
EDIT: I mentioned earlier that I was going to make another, better version (wearing this (http://www.slateman.net/images/gaming/chunli.jpg) outfit). Here's what I've got so far:
http://fc02.deviantart.com/fs20/f/2007/261/b/c/Chun_Li_2_lines_by_Matterialize.png
Here, she's charging up one of those energy ball things. That's gonna end up making some crazy lighting, so it'll look real neat.
On her right upper arm, the line that looks like a bicep crease is actually the edge of her arm inside the large sleeve. Just so y'all know.

On *her left* (viewer's right), her calf needs to bulge where her leg bends. Try bending your knee like hers, and you'll see that the calf muscle isn't used, so it gets flattened out and bulges at the sides.
Also, I really like the perspectives you're using. I have never successfully managed a perspective drawing of a person, so congratulations.

Fuck sake. I even read that before but didn't get round to posting in this thread. Then came back to it a few days later and just assumed. Blargh, sorry.
I love the position you have this new sketch in. Perspective shots like that I find a little difficult to draw successfully, but you're doing a really nice job of it

The right leg needs to be more to the left because in the position he ("he" until hair because their barely is any boob showing until shading :P) would just fall on his ass.

Yeh, it's nigh-on impossible to make her look like a girl at all. I'm gonna thin the legs and add more muscle tone, but it'll be tough.
It's also gonna be difficult to reposition that leg. I'll be able to slide the foot a bit, but only so far without making it look broken/bent in the wrong direct. I reeeaaallly don't wanna re-draw it.
