Well, I used to draw constantly, but I haven't seriously done anything in almost 2 or 3 years. I had a rough night yesterday and when I went to bed couldn't sleep, so I started doodling an eye (I draw eyes) and then one thing lead to another and I ended up with a self-portrait of some sort. It's just charcoal and pastels, both of which I haven't learned to use properly yet so I started out with a pencil drawing. I've never drawn myself before, and besides it being horribly out of proportion, feel free to lay on the criticism.

Oh and I don't have a scanner, so my camera had to do.

Oh wow, nice. I really like how you did the eye, it's very good. Although, if it's a self-portrait I think the jawline drops a little more than your own.

Either way, it's very good work.

That eye is fucking amazing, I really like drawing eyes too. I have an eye I drew in PhotoShop somewhere...

Ok, found it:

Without the use of a tablet, or laser mouse or anything, just a ball-mouse.

Thanks. I actually made the jaw too wide the first time and had to white it out quickly and redo it, then I drew it too long like you said. After that I was like screw it. The nose is too long too, I think that's what threw the whole thing off.

That's pretty cool. I never learned how to draw or paint anything on the computer.

I love the eye, it's really good. Maybe i'm a bit biased cause I hate drawing eyes... but I still think it's a really nice drawing of one.
I would have liked it if you had finished the rest of the drawing a bit more, but it's still all right + it looks like you.

I think it already resembles you quite well. If you fix up those things with the jaw and the nose, and then draw the other half, I'd say you'd have a damn fine portrait.

Thanks for the great feed back, guys. I'm going to make a new one, as opposed to finishing one that is already off, ya know? I didn't draw the other half because it was like 11 at night and it's actually a bit more difficult to draw two eyes that match. =) I'll post the other one when I finish.

I'd say draw more, but you are already taking my unspoken advice. That's awesome though.

I have to agree with the rest, that is a damn good drawing. When you do your next, I'd like to see more shading though.. There's bits and pieces of it on this half, and I think aside from the eye, the shading is probably the best part. I'm a sucker for a well-shaded picture.

I'm working on my second, and I promise more shading Tempy, thanks

I love drawing eyes, you can put so much expression in with just a few flicks of your pencil.
That eye looks almost real though, scary :O

Wow, looks great. I thought one half of your face was just really white. :P

That eye looks like it's staring directly into my soul. Looks real.
