Yep.

Official Information Page (http://www.starcraft2.com/)

Cinematic Intro (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ELhtXtnV3pg&mode=related&search=) - A nice insight on the work required to prepare a Marine for battle.

Protoss Gameplay Demo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ipBCEZwbM0&mode=related&search=)
Part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V4L04L1SCcY&mode=user&search=) - Caution: Mothership is being changed into generic Arbiter-like units. (Not a good move in my opinion)

PCGamer's Feature Video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=30MBljXxg3M&mode=related&search=) - Caution: Soul Hunters were dropped (good move in my opinion). Tempests are being changed into generic Carriers (not a good move in my opinion).

Terran Gameplay Demo (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GcHeto_NSRo)
Part 2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGuBc1Kn1SY&mode=related&search=) - Their showing of the Reapers is my favourite. Their movements just seem to click.

Single Player Demo ("http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2L3wFZOHGM)

Tycus is wicked. He looks so bad ass, so are the reapers. I really like how Blizzard gives a little background information on the units.

Edit: Since I've heard of Starcraft 2, I've been playing Brood War like every day

How would you need more convincing? It looks wicked.

Edit: They've also removed the black hole ability for the Protoss Mothership. Good on their part because when I first saw it, the first thing that came out of my mouth was "lame".

I was just checking the recent updates on the site, looking at the new artwork, and I got the striking suspicion that those last five or so alien objects were not Protoss. Especially that claw. Compare that claw to anything else we've seen from the Protoss, and it just doesn't fit in. I'm thinking Blizzard might be putting more thought into a playable Xel'Naga race than they have admitted up to this point. If you look at Blizzards answer to the question of races on their FAQs page, they never really answer the question, do they? I would love to see the Xel'Naga as a playable race, but only if Blizzard can live up to their standard of perfect balance between races. But you know, even if they don't, they'll just release a patch a few months after the game to fix it.

I am not really excited at all for this game, I may get it but they will really have to impress me. I remember being so let down when Diablo III wasn't announced, so that may be where my bias comes from.

Crysis

I wonder what they'll do with the mapmaker. The best thing I ever made in the old one was one of those big RP maps, with unit-spawning, etc. I'm actually looking forward to the mapmaking more than I'm looking forward to the actual game.

Think I'll reinstall Starcraft, just for kicks. Heh - the case says "COMING IN 1999: DIABLO II". Ah, the memories.

I began to much prefer the user created content for WC3 and TFT when they came out to the custom maps/games for Starcraft, but whether you love it or hate it I'd put money on the map maker being alot closer to the WC3/TFT one than the original Starcraft one, though improved no doubt.

I always thought the gigantic roleplaying maps for WC3 were amazing, with all the mechanics and small details the creators put in. Looking back it was like a really primitive WoW.

I can't wait to get this game, I loved SC but the graphics bother me having played it for so long I always felt they should update it. When I heard about SC2 a long time ago, I was amazed and continue to wait with anticipation! I think an updated SC is just what I need to for my girlfriend to hate my computer more!

Y'know, if WoW is such crap, can you explain how it's probably the most popular MMO in the entire world?

But since you're such an expert on the subject, what would you like to see in SC2 other than new units and a graphics update?

I cant explain why it's so popular...it's completely beyond me, that game is unbelievably dull and repetitive.

I wasn't aware I proclaimed or implied i was an expert of starcraft 2 development.:indiff: But to answer your queston, the max players is still 8...i want 16, a supply limit bigger than the one we have in Broodwar (which currently is still 200:wail:) would be nice too, and bigger maps (judging by the videos the maps look approximately the same size)

EDIT: Apparently a beta version was leaked, and is downloadable from Zerogamers.com. (http://www.zerogamers.com/downloads/c190-Starcraft-2-Beta-Releases/f1483-Starcraft-2-Beta-Leaked.html) However, the site is one of them hack/exploit download places, so I seriously doubt it's real. If anyone actually bothers to download it, run it through a few virus scans to check. I can't be assed.

Heh, name an MMO that isn't dull and repetitive. WoW just pulls off the dull repetition in a more appealing way than any other MMO.

Blizzard isn't even done balancing the races... I'm sure they'll be upgrading the limitations of the game to meet par with what todays computers can take. As someone said before, Blizzard is known for putting out only quality games. You remember Starcraf: Ghost? They got so far into development but still weren't satisfied so they put the whole project on hold rather than finish it up and release it as it was.

Dr. Gentlemen
11-06-2007, 9:57 PM
They should restart making SC:Ghost...the concept of the whole idea was great. We probably wouldn't see it until 2012 though knowing blizzard...

Hm, I'd give it a download, but my virus scan is lacking as it is. Would be cool if it was real though.

As for SC:2, I think it will be better in every way Starcraft was, and improve in everything that it lacked. Like someone said before, Blizzard is good for high quality games.

Agreed. The whole idea for a Starcraft FPS was great. Although I think they should make it really gritty and dark, with crazy-realistic graphics and physics. The game would be so awesome if it had a really grim, cyberpunk feel to it.

That's not the download link, it's one of those stupid definition thingies. If you look to the right of the screen, you'll see that it says you need to register a free Zerogamers account.

I'm not gonna bother, though. My copy of Hellgate: London is already in the mail, so I've no need to risk my computer over a sloppy beta.

Frankly, the idea of a FPS scares me. Blizzard is best at making story driven RTS.
RTS/RPG or nothing at all.

Tyler_Legrand

Apparently Starcraft 2 was going to be bigger than any RTS Blizzard ever made. Longer story, unique campaign per race, more beautifully rendered cutscenes, more characters. If they wanted finish every of those things, it would be quite a long time from now before the game is released.

So they decided to split the game into a trilogy: One full game with the Terran campaign, and then two expansions with the Zerg campaign and the Protoss campaign.

Thoughts?

I think this was an awesome idea from a business point of view. I mean, look at the Halo franchise 'n shit. People eat up "halo" related merchandise and spin-offs with open wallets.

And to be honest so far from what I've seen I wouldn't care to have to buy two more expansions to play the full experience. Sometimes its worth it, sometimes it's not. Either way I think they'll have no problems at all with selling all three, which is obvious.

Plus if it's as Tyler says, its going to be fucking crammed full of shit that's certainly not going to fit in one game.

On the far bottom right, there's some big worm thing.

Vir
01-16-2009, 3:05 AM
Its crawling out of the terrain I think it might just be some sort of creep not a specific races character, otherwise it would have to be a zerg unit that somehow crossed that gap or came out of it. So I think it is not a unit for one of the races.
Definitely a badass caterpillar monster that I can't wait to see in action.

Starcraft 2 will be out before Diablo 3 in the sense that the first part of the Starcraft 2 trilogy will be finished first. But Diablo 3 will be out before the entire Starcraft 2 trilogy is completed.

That bit has annoyed me quite a bit. It will be around $100 for the original disk then another $30-$40 for each of the expansions. The campaigns of each better be as long as all 3 were in the last games.

How do you know this

The campaigns of each better be as long as all 3 were in the last games.

Blizzard already claimed that each campaign will be as long as 3 campaigns in the last game.

You have to understand that with each campaign, you're not just getting more maps that any idiot can make in the map maker that comes bundled with the game. In addition to cutscenes, you're also getting more of this:

http://lorelab.com/images/sc2/Hyperion_bridge_(StarCraft).jpg

Then they'd have to start over with Protoss, and I can't even imagine how they're gonna do Zerg.

Kevinonfire
01-20-2009, 11:57 PM
I've read somewhere, can't remember where, that the three parts of the campaign will be quite different from one another. The Terran one will be mostly about Raynor fighting and buying mercenaries. The Zerg one should be the second one, and will have more RPG elements. The last one will be the Protoss one, and should be based more on Diplomacy. I'm not 100% sure of that, and I can't give any additionnal infos, but it's what I've read.

Also, Knight of Cydonia, where the hell do you live? 100$ for the original game?! Maybe a Collector's Edition could cost around that, but for only the game?

Edit : http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/55267

Each campaign will be very different, with Pardo announcing the Zerg campaign will contain RPG elements. The Protoss campaign will likewise be differentiated by elements of diplomacy. In addition, the Terran campaign will feature a Protoss mini-campaign.
